All the school staff is wonderful, welcoming and great with the kids. Osceola is a great community and the schools and education reflect that as well!

This school was run nicely when Principal Weber was around. Its unfortunate Principal Thomas has been left to run the school to her own devices. When reaching out to Principal Thomas about concerns regarding bullying by other students AND teachers - she is dismissive and rude. She refused to move my child out of unsafe conditions and I ultimately pulled my child from this school because of it. The way they treat special needs kids is appalling. Putting them all in one classroom , so all the other kids aren't "distracted" by them - is the feeling your get. The special ed aides are un qualified and down right mean to students. I've seen an aide talk to a special need child extremely rude and if it was my child I would've been very upset. If your child is in Special Education, please find a different district, Osceola is incapable of handling children with learning disabilities appropriately. All children are required by law to have a safe and appropriate learning environment, and if concerns are brought up about this, Principal Thomas will do nothing but make excuses for her poorly trained staff and how she handles children with special needs. Its scary and some one could be seriously hurt. I also believe not letting parents enter the building AT ALL is a violation of our rights as parents to see our children's school and interact with teachers on a daily basis. This is particularly hard for children with special needs to be left at the front door to find their own way throughout the school. I have seen on many occasions children's crying at the front entrance (as young as PRE K) because their parents are no longer allowed to walk into school with them. I also believe the end of the day routine, where children depart from school is unsafe. EVEN though Principal Thomas will tell you otherwise. Kids are brought out of the school into a church parking lot across the street where the stand until someone picks them up. You're supposed to show your "pick up card", but often times, no one is checking and kids are running off to whomever in a crowded parking lot. I am thankful no serious injuries or harm has come to any of the littlest students in our district.

The last 2 years were much better. This year has been a nightmare. Safety of the students has taken back seat to a principal trying to impress her staff. Concerns have to be brought all the way to the school board. The principal and superintendent care about their own agenda and twist facts to make themselves look better. Students are not supervised by the buses and an unsafe pick up process. A locked safe school but at 3:13 the kids are on their own. Rationalized by the superintendent by saying kids who walk home are also at risk. When we initially brought up our concerns we were told to have our child ride the bus or do what they told other unhappy parents, sign them up for kids club ( min $400-$450 per year for 5 mins after school). We are looking at open enrollment somewhere else.

The staff has been approachable, caring, & helpful. I don't know what grade it starts in, but a month of swimming for P.E. was given for my 2nd grade child & I thought that was wonderful. Most kids seem to bus to school & the pick-up, drop-off process at this school is really easy. Also, four weeks of summer school is offered to all kids along with bussing & is free of charge at this time (except some classes for older children, I understand).
