I came to this school in my 8th grade year. It was starting off decent. I wear a hijab, which was a bit of a culture shock for some students. They had many questions and other things like that. So a bit goes by and this boy has a crush on me, which I knew about, and pretty much the entire class and other students. This student has assaulted girls in the past sexually, and I only know about this because I heard it from the girls myself. And when they told me this, they said the teachers and staff did nothing. So I tried to stay away from him even more than I did before. But this kid was something else. He has hit me multiple times, even on my butt. I told the teacher and she called him up. She asked him about it and later on told me he said he didn't do it. My friend who saw the whole thing was like, ¨He hit your butt on purpose¨. Anyway, more time goes by and I was going to 7th block. Teachers are usually in the halls to tell students to get to their classes and stuff. So I went in the class and got on my chromebook and logged in. The boy and his ´friends´ were horseplaying a bit behind me. Next thing I know, my hijab got pulled off. It hurt a bit too because I have pins in my hijab and underpiece to keep it in place. I was in complete shock and immediately threw my hijab back on. A student starts yelling the boy's name and saying he did it. I immediately ran out and to my teacher and started crying on her. I honestly loved her, she was my favorite teacher, (Love you Dr.Graves :)). The vice principal ran over and asked what happened, I can't remember exactly what happened, but she told me to go to her office which was luckily in the 8th grade hallway. I rushed down and shut the door. She got some students to write down what happened as I fixed my hijab in her office. Soon, my parents came and they talked with the principal and a lot of the staff. I then went to work with my dad after that. I went back the next day and was still obviously upset. A lot of students and teachers asked how I was, but of course I responded honestly. The kid only got like a 2-3 day suspension and schedule change. That really made me and my parents, even friends upset. In all, the only reason I gave two stars was because of the people that helped and were with me during this year. I had many more bad experiences at this school, but this was the worst. I do not recommend it at all.

My child is a current 6th grader at Olgthrope Character School and the overall quality of this school is poor. Specific in the administrative and education area. Poor and aggressive leadership from the staff and some of the assistant principal, too much homework, a lot of bullying issues and the support for learning differences is not supported or displayed at this school. Character development in students is not being taught, school facilities have a high turn over, and teacher quality is poorly managed as well. The parents involvement is about 50%.

Most of the review here are pretty old. Overall would never have chosen this school. Racism is rampant. There is no moral compass. Several eighth grade teachers project their political views on to students. If you want a true depiction of the type of school this is attend the 8th grade graduation ceremony at the end of the year. As you can see on this site the student progress and scores have fallen dramatically which is unfortunate. The building is a nice facility.

Simply the best middle school in Savannah, G.A. in all terms and aspects. Excellent-professional teachers, administration, and IEP group. The curriculum is exceptional and competitive, just can't be better. As a mother of an Aspergers student, I recommend this school all the way.

This school has restored my faith in public education! I love, love, love it!!! My son was previously in the Hawaii public school system and spent a year at Georgetown. Both were terrible experiences. He was so lucky to have been chosen in the lottery! The teachers at OCS are dedicated, the administrative staff is warm and professional and the school environment is overwhelmingly positive. Of course, no school is without flaws but this one comes pretty close to the best school I have ever experienced. I think the major component to the school's success is parent involvement and communication among teachers, administration, students and parents. This is a MUST in a successful school. If students know that both parents and teachers care about them, they are more likely to succeed. Thank you OCS!

This is an amazing school! We were in private school before 6th grade and it didn't even come close to comparing to Ogelthorpe! Absolutely wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!! Very academic, rewards good behavior and good grades.
