I am a proponent of attending your neighborhood school. I love the fact that I can walk my daughter to school. She enjoys school and is learning the routines and skills to be a successful student. I also love that she is in a diverse school with students from a variety of backgrounds.

The staff really put in the effort to make this school part of our community. The students have been very ingaged in designing a new neighborhood park. There are many events through out the year at this school which helps the parents stay connected with the school. Just like anything else, you get out of it what you put into it.

I would not recommend enrolling your child in this school. They have low test scores, classes too big for any one person to be able to catch everything that happens, and no proper training on how to handle children with special needs that are being bullied. My son is now having to switch schools due to the negligence of the staff at this school.

My two daughters have attended Schaefer for three years. One is in second the other in fifth. The district has had to cut some programs due to major budget cuts but parents have worked hard to raise money to have an excellent music program. There is a GATE/accelerated program that my oldest daughter goes to 4 days a week for 30 min. Per day. She loves it! They are studying architecture.
