The teachers are under qualified and can’t teach the right subjects

I thought this school would be a great opportunity for my children. At the time I transferred my kids from the SALTA program the reviews (all pre-2022) sounded amazing. We “toughed-out” the first year of the elementary program ( it was one of the worst experiences for my kids), they promised improvement so we stayed 2023/2024… we had a problem with a teacher that was destroying my daughters self esteem, talked to counselor, the teacher herself, administration and even other teachers… to no avail, just made my daughter hide how discouraging the teacher was… which I regret. 2024/2025 now having kids in both the secondary and elementary programs… I can say that the FLL program for secondary is the ONLY amazing program in this school. The teachers don’t teach or follow up on the success of the students… class sizes are way larger than advertised, teachers are quitting mid-term, and leaving classes with double or 50% more students. The administration will reply with snarky statements and gas-lighting that it’s your student that is the problem, yet I received an email reply from one instructor (math) that she was overwhelmed by all the emails from parents (due to the failing format of the course) as well as a science instructor who emails the parent who does not live in the same home… epic failure on the teachers (several with less than 6 months experience) and the administrators are not responsive to complaints. I have moved my kids from this school. I don’t recommend this school, they don’t provide a decent lunch. How can you have the best interest of kids at heart if the food menu (lack of kitchen or cafeteria) is as my kid described “disgusting” “cold”, and the ran out of food and gave me and my friend a roll because the lunch was gone… seriously poor judgement on my side and I feel horrible letting my kids stay in the hope that the school leadership could pull it together. They had a disaster test where they walked all the students several blocks for parents to pick up at off site location. The teachers my kids did like, lasted under 1 year… the terrible ones stay… equal a school in decline.

Disclaimer: Individual experiences may vary.As a parent, I feel compelled to share my thoughts about Beehive Academy. While the school’s self-advertising touts excellence, my interactions have left me with mixed feelings.-Locked-Down iPads: Beehive Academy provides iPads to students, which is commendable. However, the stringent restrictions placed on these devices hinder parents’ ability to stay informed. A consolidated platform for grades and assignments is sorely lacking.-Fragmented Communication Channels: The school’s reliance on multiple platforms—Infinite Campus, Instructure Canvas, Google Classrooms, teacher pages, Aleks, Cahoots, and more—creates confusion. As a parent, navigating this ecosystem feels like deciphering a complex puzzle. For a elementary or middle school student, it’s even more overwhelming.-Inconsistent Grade Updates: While Infinite Campus is suggested for checking grades, the reality is disappointing. Teachers don’t consistently update grades, and there’s no way to view assignment details or requirements. Clarity is essential for parents to support their child’s education effectively.-Teacher Responsiveness: While most teachers respond promptly, exceptions exist. When extenuating circumstances arise (such as illness), some teachers lack flexibility. Imagine hearing that your child can’t make up a test due to rigid policies—it’s frustrating.-Recommendation: Unless you have a tech-savvy, proactive student or are willing to navigate this convoluted online landscape yourself, I hesitate to recommend Beehive Academy. The school’s potential is overshadowed by administrative challenges. In conclusion, Beehive Academy has room for improvement. I hope this feedback encourages positive changes that benefit both students and parents.

I am very disappointed in this school. It's ranked top in the state for public schools yet lacks in a variety of areas. Because it is a STEM school, their academics are entirely focused on those areas which means there is no variety for students (which stands to reason). It's great if your kid loves mathematics and engineering. The only technology really at this school is that they use iPads for most of their assignments and they have a robotics club. They made a lot of promises on classes and clubs they would offer which they didn't fulfill. The beginning of the year was extremely disorganized. Students didn't get locker assignments or even class assignments until the day of the first day. It seems like the administration rushed into this just so they could have the K-5 included this year and I feel like it was poorly managed overall. Many students didn't get iPads until two weeks into the school year and teachers were already assigning work that could only be done on the iPad. Teachers are still disorganized. When it comes to parent/teacher communication, the teachers rarely if ever respond to emails and do not allow for any sort of office hours for students or parents to address concerns. My student ends up frustrated because the teachers are impatient and do not take the time to actually help students who are struggling. The most they do is offer the tutoring which is only for math. There are clubs, but they are exclusionary. My student tried joining some clubs and was told by students that he wasn't allowed or they didn't want them there. Students are very crass and constantly make sexual or inappropriate jokes. They call each other the n-word and bully other kids based on race or status. The teachers are also very punitive and have taken away iPads before the school bell even rings or assign detention for minor infractions like wearing socks that are too colorful. My student made some friends at the school and almost every single one is leaving before the end of the year. My student hates it here. They have very little to offer for electives for students. All are math and science based (One music based) or they have 5 different options for "study table" where kids just spend that time doing homework. Standard public schools offer more than what Beehive has. If your child is creative AT ALL, I would recommend steering clear of this school. If your kid thrives on learning math and science, then they may like it.

This school is a joke. My kids are not challenged at all, and my kids say their teachers always seem stressed out and unorganized. Behavior issues are not addressed with kids that are disruptive in elementary. The project my child is doing for the stem fair is a joke for a school that considers itself a stem school. They have a robotics club, but good luck getting into it and they don't have alternatives for the 90% of kids that don't get a spot. Really regret changing schools.

This is my daughter's second year at Beehive. The staff is incredible. Tutoring is offered three days per week. A wide variety of clubs are offered and students are encouraged to participate. My daughter is excelling both academically and socially. My only concern is this year her class size is close to the same size as district schools. This is disappointing as one benefit of a charter school has been smaller classes.

Beehive has just started a k-6 this year. We thought it would be amazing for a son who has autism. We have found otherwise the special needs coordinators are emotionally abusive. The teachers are amazing at least my son's teacher is.

The environment is nurturing and welcoming. The security is far above anything I have seen in any public school. The projects that the students do have their creativity flowing and challenge them academically.

The new school is so unorganized. They seem understaffed and very unorganized. The first student-led conferences were a joke and completely unorganized.

Teachers and staff is going above and beyond for the students. The school is caring to create bully free environment for students and challenge them academically. Students have iPad to learn more and self paced if needed. My first grader loves the school!

Relatively average, some teachers like Mr. Defronzo, and Mr. Harlow helped make the school tolerable and enjoyable.

The confidence my son has gained this year is incredible. The teachers and staff at BSTA go out of their way to make this a fun and creative learning environment. I'm so thankful we made the decision to put our son in BSTA.

Attending our 5th year at Beehive. Appreciate the small class sizes, easy to communicate with staff. Great camaraderie for students to build friendships and to learn. Appreciate the great technology.

This is the second year my son has attended. He really likes it, and I see him making great progress. He enjoys school and likes to go. The staff, teachers, and administrators are all friendly, courteous, and hard working, and strive to make the best environment for the students that they can. I really like this school and am glad that we found out about it.

Im a formal Student of this school and i find it one of the best schools i found myself into its really good at antibullying bullying is at a minimum exept for a few occaisional issues but its great with technology and the teachers that where not good in everybodies ratings are now removed due to complaints but the teachers teach great the only way your gonna fail getting through this school is if you litterally try as hard as you can to fail but even than theyll still teach you also the teachers interact with the students making it a great thing it helps with everybodies succes they also have ipads im typing from the schools ipad right now the school has ipads for assignments so no more dumpster backpack as most of the papers art and math being a exeption with occaisional paper assignments form other classes but most about 60-70 percent of the assignments are nice and organised you also have cool-sis this allows you to be able to acces your students grades 24/7 the students can also acces their own grades as they wish this school has many great advantages and ive found very little issues about this school so far and is a great place to put your student if you can afford it

My daughter has ADHD and processing disorder and going to a regular public middle school (esp. Union Middle) would have been a disaster. I got her into Beehive easily with skepticism and aprrehension weighing on my mind. I heard so many negative things about Charter Schools but it turns out these were just opinions with no education behind them brought forth by superstitious folks. Two years at this school and it is GREAT! I get emails directly from the teachers within 2 hours. There's free tutoring after school. Before Beehive, I would help my daughter with homework for 2 hours everyday, now I've invested about 5% of my time helping her because the tutoring is so efficient. There was a bit of learning curve on social skills with public school kids and the Charter School curriculum but everyone adjusts eventually. This school is so efficient with keeping track of their students and they will push your student to strive for the "better life" not the "just good enough life". So, if you are tired of the public school mentality and have a slow, average or above average kid then this is the place for you! Parents are friendly too, because we are all in the same boat.

Beehive is an excellent school! It has small class sizes with committed, caring teachers. We are able to check grades and behavior scores on-line with Coolsis. We know when our son has forgotten to turn in an assignment so we can remind him. My son has not had the bullying problems that we experienced at other schools. The school is always striving to do even better.
