Lacking in grade-wide curriculum (one history teacher assigns 2 1/2x the reading of the other history teacher equivalent), teacher-run school, so lacking in objective oversight, passive, lackluster, disappointing head of school, poor teachers stay until they retire or choose to leave. Art and music are very good.

Marin Academy offers a rigorous college preparatory academic curriculum and a top notch music and art program, but it is not a school where kids that are shy and not super confident will thrive. MA attracts very outgoing and confident students, so if your child matches that description, it is a great place. If you child needs any help or is struggling at all (academically, emotionally or socially), they are not likely to get much support from the administration or faculty.
