Don't judge a book by its cover. In the same manner, don't judge a school by its greatschools score. Read the comments and see from real people what their experiences are. The pandemic is challenging because it made people resort to doing less and accepting that we should just be grateful that school doors are opened. I found the new principal to be extremely open to ideas and working closely with parents when they have a concern. She doesn't veto everything that comes her way. I am used to a principal who hides and interacts with you only when your kid is in trouble. That's not my kid. My kid doesn't get in trouble, yet I know the principal and feel I can reach out to her any time. She can be seen directing traffic, roaming the parking lot to ensure cars are following the rules, on the yard, on the playground, around the office - she just seems to be everywhere, always smiling and greeting me with a lot of joy and warmth at drop off and pick up. Though she is moving on next year (she got a promotion), her positivity and creative ideas for how to address parent concerns has really made coming back from the pandemic much more pleasant. I am glad to now have a support in the district office that will really understand how to help Sunnybrae out. To the next principal, I enjoyed seeing your introductory letter and wish you all the best. You are entering a great community, and we will all work together to take care of you so you can take care of our most precious assets, the kids!

Sunnybrae is one of the most inclusive places your child will ever experience. My child is special needs and is in a classroom for children with disabilities. Ms. Mateo (who in my opinion is one of the best teachers this world has to offer) and her team of paras goes through great lengths to ensure that my child has both academic and social emotional experiences with the general population. The new principal is warm, friendly, and easy to approach. I feel like I can tell her anything, and she responds so quickly, and with a smile each time. It goes a long way when you get a principal that is approachable. She also takes time to engage with my child who has special needs and really makes my kid feel like a billion bucks every time. I just love the way she is with kids!

Sunnybrae has a dedicated and dedicated staff. Teachers go out of their way to make sure families have the resources they need and that they feel included in their child's education. My child has formed strong friendships with students of many different backgrounds. We're lucky that Sunnybrae is our neighborhood school!

Sunnybrae is a great community! You are always welcomed by staff, teachers, and they have caring support staff. I'm really happy that we made the decision to transfer our children from a private school to Sunnybrae. There are so many great resources for the students and especially for those in need of support and it's FREE. I'm glad to BEE a Sunnybrae Parent!!!

Sunnybrae is an amazing gem of a school. The teachers, front office staff, and its students are outstanding. We have wonderful traditions and create a sense of belonging that simply doesn't exist anywhere else. When I transferred into this school, I was worried about being in a new environment. Ms. Lisa helped us right away and made us feel welcomed. The principal stopped during her busy day to talk to me and my kids, and made us feel important. I am so glad we found Sunnybrae. Thank you to everyone for your kidness!

We've been at the school for 2 years and so far it's been wonderful. The teachers are amazing and warm, and go above and beyond to help their students and help them learn. The pandemic is challenging, of course, but I have been really impressed by staff and administration -- they have been great at communication and really take the time to listen to what the community wants. The principal (new this year) is very forward-thinking and I applaud what she has been able to accomplish in such a short time. Would definitely recommend this school; everyone who lives in the area should definitely seriously consider this school (and talk to families who actually go there!). The school stresses good social skills as well as academic skills, which I think is important.

Smaller neighborhood school with a great sense of community. Kids can walk, bike, scooter to school, independently in older grades 3rd+ in groups. The teachers and staff are great and supportive. The new principal brings a can do attitude to the school and is actively working with the partner group/PTA to bring more enrichment & lunchtime programs. As a smaller school the students share playgrounds TK/Kinder, then 1st-3rd grade, then 4th&5th. Allowing these different age groups to mix helps kids form friendships with students in other classes, that then transfer outside of school into neighborhood friends. Kids play together at the neighborhood parks after school. Very diverse school with a big focus on respect and inclusion.

Very positive. Some people shy away from the diversity and the test scores.... but that does not paint the great picture that is Sunnybrae.

It was amazing. But then again, we embraced the challenges and diversity. So important to these young minds. The students had to work for things, not just given to them through PTA. Lots of fundraising to make it all happen. AND we did it for all 6 years that our family was there.

The teachers are an amazing group and work so well together under Principal May's leadership. They truly care about the kids and what they do. This is only my daughter's second year(she attended a different school prior) but she loves Sunnybrae. Great group of parents who do their best to better the school as well!

Children spend longer hours in school than any other place. Sunnybrae has made my daughter feel right at home and I never had issues "ever" with taking my daughter to class. I believe that says a lot. Thanks to Ms. Foley!
