The principal of the school - Amanda - will stop at nothing to make the wealthy parents happy, including not making her staff feel heard or supported.

Baywood Elementary is an ideal combination of fantastic, caring teachers, an involved and fun parent community, great leadership and a diverse student body. My 3 children attended for all of their elementary school years and they all feel truly fortunate for the learning experience they had here and the lifelong friendships they made.

Baywood is an amazing school. My son is so happy here and is excited to go to school everyday. He is now in 4th grade and still excited to go to school. The teachers are wonderful and I know my son is getting the best education possible.

Baywood has been excellent with a very involved parent community and good funding allowing for a multitude of programs (PE, art, music, and more)

Great teachers and staff. The school has great after school care options. The parents and teachers come together to make a great community that promotes life long learning. Very glad my children have the opportunity to attend Baywood!

Dedicated teachers. Great after school options. Friendly community with involved parents. We have one child at the school and can't wait for the second to start soon.

It's our first year at Baywood, and it has been very positive. Terrific teachers, friendly principal and the community is very welcoming. My child loves going to school in the mornings.

This school is amazing. Parents are too much involve in school activities, fund raising for school to get extra activities to make kids smart.

Baywood has been amazing for our family. My son is excelling above and beyond the CORE the teachers and administration always keep us informed with all the activities both for the students and the parents. I believe the negative comments seem to all point to money not the actual education Baywood is providing if those people are not pleased there is a way to transfer to another school and should do so. We look forward to our youngest to join the TK program and benefit as his brother did from this amazing school.

As a parent at this school for many years I believe that most families are happy with the experience and education offered at Baywood, but do not feel the need to review the school online. I think it is important to note that people with negative comments are more likely to share their dissatisfaction on Great Schools than those that are pleased with the experience at their respective schools. Our family has found Baywood to offer an excellent education with-in a wonderful community, and our children are thriving.

I have not liked this school from the the very beginning but unfortunately it wasn't up to me to send my child here. This school is only about money but I have yet to see what they do with it because it sure isn't going to improve the school.

Wonderful School! We are on our third year at Baywood and are very happy to be part of a great community. The teachers are innovative, compassionate and appear to truly love their jobs. The principal is caring and experienced, and appears dedicated to making Baywood the best school it can be. Like any school, there are many fundraisers, but because of these, Baywood provides programs that other schools might not. For example, PTA funds provide daily PE class, music teachers, librarian, teacher s aides and many great programs like the Science Fair, Arts & Science Day, Talent Show and others. I may not be able to participate in every fundraiser, but I know a little can go a long way. Also, there are many opportunities for differentiated learning and reduced class sizes through use of aides, volunteers and split-class time at PE, library and computer. I read a previous review about teachers not confirming the pick-up of the kindergarteners. Not the case in my experience. Each student is released only when the teacher makes eye contact with the parent. The school is very safe. Our children are confident, happy, thriving and they love Baywood what more could I ask for?

Our child is attending this school as it was rated a 10 of 10, but falls way short of that. Makes you wonder if its all the money they collect from parents for the public school to even stay open.school site even says each student contribution $800. Really. Must be nice to be rich, which I am not. No parking lot, no playing before or after school, rules after rules, only one play structure for the entire school and its only to be used for K during thier break. Homework is not not very well as they ask you to make things for the kids and its a month long homework book with no set pages to work on. My child learned most of the book and homework items in Pre-K. Teachers and staff don't seem very friendly and no one even confirmed parents when they let the kids out after school, best of all when asked best way to drop off and pick up, use the drop off lane or walk. Most parents just drop the kids off and leave.

Its only improved since I went there. Its great in that you get to go with and make friends with kids in YOUR OWN neighborhood. Beautiful old school in a district where parents care and children work hard. While parents of OTHER areas want to bus their kids all the way over here, its great that kids can instead walk to their OWN neighborhood schools. GO BAYWOOD!!!

I have been a part of the Baywood Community for 5 years now. My two sons have made great friends and our Cub Scout den is diverse. The test scores of my sons are very high and I love the ability to volunteer in the classroom and enjoy seeing other fathers and mothers volunteering lots of time for their children's education. The annual fundraising auction raises a lot of money and is tons of fun.

Wow----18 of the recent glowing reviews were written on or around 10/13-15, 2009. What- did everyone sit down and do them together?? Just asking.....

Excellent administration that cares. Lots of parental involvement. Get's about 16,000 hours of parent volunteer time per year. PTA raises over $200,000 per year for programs. Great.

The teachers are not only experienced and highly competent, they also care about each student individually and are responsive to parents' concerns about their child's progress. The Lifeskills program seemed corny to me at first, but I have become a huge fan after seeing how Lifeskills have enabled my son to handle challenging new situations with confidence. There does seem to be some tension between parents of different socioeconomic backgrounds, but it does not seem to be intentional. Perhaps it is just awkward for some people to be outside their comfort zone when interacting with someone from a very different background. Even the students seem to clump with others from similar backgrounds. The school and each class do solicit donations rather frequently, but the funds appear to be well spent on enhancing students' educational experience. The on-site after school care is excellent. This school is probably as good as it gets.
