My daughter was informed, "I am certain you do not reside in the Willow Glen area since you are consistently tardy to school. It is likely that you live in San Jose, California. Isn't Willow Glen a part of the San Jose community? Who made such a remark to a young child, and why? Is residing in Willow Glen considered a privilege?"This educational institution is, without a doubt, the most unsatisfactory school I have ever had the misfortune of interacting with throughout my entire life. The instructors not only fail to assign homework to the students, but they also exhibit extreme unkindness toward them, addressing and treating them as if they were adults due to the complex language they employ when communicating with the children who attend this school. My child has been involved in several altercations with other students who exhibit extreme harshness and rudeness when communicating with the principal. Despite bringing this to their attention, I have not received any assistance whatsoever. My daughter cries and pleads with me not to make her attend school in the mornings. This is something she has never done before, but attending this school has been a traumatic experience for her, and as a parent of four children, it pains me deeply to witness her distress. In my opinion, this school is in dire need of establishing a solid foundation and shifting its focus away from being solely community-based. Instead, it should strive to foster a sense of inclusivity and acceptance for all individuals, regardless of their place of residence within the Willow Glen area.

I attended elementary school here. The parents were very involved and welcomed in the classroom. The teachers were warm and caring towards me. I felt a sense of family here even though it is a large school. There were many enrichment activities and events sponsored by the PTA.

Great school ratings are a joke. This is a great school with mostly great teachers who absolutely care about the students. We currently have two kids here and they are learning and thriving. The parents here are involved and the PTA do an incredible job of enriching the students with extra activities. Try to get other data from other sites to see if this school makes sense for you but don't only look at the number that this site gives cause the way things are weighted are ridiculous. I'd personally rate this at least an 8 from academics and parent involvement.

I am so very grateful to WGE for all that it is has brought to my kids’ lives these past 7 years. The PTA is committed and they bring a lot to the school - extra curricular music, band, science, P.E., school festivals, after school activities... but I think it’s also the attitude of everyone there: the energy is We Welcome You and I am so so grateful to have had this happy place for my kids’ to have spent some very important years of their happy childhood.

I have two children in this school that started from tk-3 and I am so pleased that they are fluent in Spanish now and we actually went to Mexico for vacation and it was such a big help;)

We enrolled our kid in this school because of the TWBI program. Even though the academic part is decent enough so far, the bullying issues are incredible. My kid is in K and every 2-3 days we have issues that someone hits him, call him names, push him to the floor, etc.I've been reporting this to the teacher for the last month but until now, nothing has changed.I'm deeply disappointed and I regret to have enrolled my kid in this school.

Great school in every way. Diverse student body and kids learn both academics and grow up with what is normal in society. I have 3 kids that have gone here and all have learned a lot. We were in Palo Alto before and the academics are good but the kids whose parents have taught them they are better than others make it a terrible school system. Also once they get to middle school there is nobody held accountable and with those kids with lots of money drug usage is rampant.

The worst I have ever seen. The principal is unattached, uncommunicative, and generally incompetent. There is a bullying issue and the principal is completely incompetent. He is also completely incompetent in education and management. MUST BE FIRED! Anyone on the school board that supports this level of incompetence must also be immediately fired!

Willow Glen Elementary is a great school and our two boys (K and 3rd) really enjoy attending. The school has an excellent staff and offers quite a few extra-curricular activities such as science, chess club, art, band etc. The school has a great community and a very active PTA.

Parent involvement is key to a good school. Just attend a PTA meeting at the school. It is full of parents that are not board members but honestly involved in the school. They have a band that started a few years ago because a parent was driven to have a hands on music program at the school. That is just one example of improvements parents have made. Teachers are exceptional because this is a school they want to be at. Why? The parent support. No test will reflect that fact.
