PTA is awesome. Very supportive and engaging. Monthly events and lots of after school programs to enroll in.

My twins moved to this school last year and I feel that Ms. Frankina does her very best to keep her students, teachers and community happy! She goes above and beyond to meet the needs of the students and is very hands on and open. We recently met with her to discuss safety and she was very open and honest. I have been very happy with the school and the amazing teachers here!

After having a great experience with my gifted older daughter, I sought help with my struggling younger daughter, expecting kind responsiveness. Instead, even though I had approached the teacher respectfully, things got blown up. The former kindergarten teacher was thrown into teaching fourth grade, and she did not know how to help. The principal is known to support teachers. I felt like targeted my daughter for abuse. I heard from other students that one teacher does little teaching and has students grade each other. The test scores are high because parents push their kids at home. The school district is very political, with the teachers caring more about their pay than teaching it seems. They took kids away from classes to go to Sacramento to demand more pay. Homework assignments asked about treatment of teachers.

I believe the school is being too political in its teaching. My grade 5 kid is telling me everyday about how the school targets Law enforcement and Whites as bad. I don't think school should indoctrinate hate and racial divide. They need to change their approach or else they will be loosing students . The first 3 years were good and we had good hardworking teachers. the 2020-2021 teacher and principle seems to be politically motivate to brain wash the students towards racial divide and hatred towards law enforcement. This is like a weekly brain washing program. If you want your child to be politically neutral this is not a school to send your child to.

Some teachers are very sarcastic when responding to kids questions. Which is not acceptable being a teacher. Teachers might have experience but does not have patience.

Since our children have attended Tom Matsumoto, the teachers and its staff have been the anchor for the school. I would agree with the parents below that the school could benefit from more diversity. Some of the students and some of the parents are not particularly welcoming towards non-Asians and those who don't make up the Asian majority. Some of the verbiage expressed and conduct shown towards children of Latin American culture are cause for concern and should be investigated by the district.

Not much diversity of students. The front office ladies are not very welcoming. They represent the school and first thing you see so they should smile and be a bit friendlier. Most teachers love their job and go above and beyond to make school fun for their students. Not much of an award system. No math awards, improvement awards or even award ceremony to motivate children. There is the Pizza Hut coupon deal or San Jose shark reading program for reading and some teacher will give a prize if AR goals are met. That's if the teacher does not just pick one student to recognize even though all others worked just as hard. Lack of spirit days. Not even a day were all student where a motsumoto shirt OF THE SAME DESIGN to show school spirit. Each class has a different designed shirt they wear diffrent days of the week. Some of the colors of the shirts and designs I think are done by students? Kids cannot use the libaray computers before or after school. No school plays or performances have occurred since my kids have attended. No Thanksgiving or Christmas performances for parents to attend. It's a zoo before and after school picking up your child. Pedistrians beware.

Welcome to a high performing school in the South Bay. Yes, every student here need to roll up their sleeves and really work. If that means they need to have tutors, so be it. The bar is high! If that is not for you or your kids, then this school is not for you. Also this school is quite traditional, so if your child will not thrive in that kind of environment then this school will not be a good match. The teachers for the most part are really good. I appreciate teachers that push students to work. Yes, this school not not very diverse but that's what happens when the surounding neighborhood is mostly Asian. That is probably the driving factor to its api scores. Culturally, Asian parents have high expectations from their children, for the most part, they deliver. Principle Shreman is very caring, but of course he has also has certain expectations from his students and parents. Unfortunately, this school could use more parent volunteers. But the parents that do volunteer are amazing! They really try to make the school a "balanced " school with school activities. All in all a great school.

DISCRIMINATORY SCHOOL!!! The school engages in discriminatory behavior. If you bring up concerns, they are simply dismissed without conducting the appropriate investigation. Had a lot of hope from this school. But as concerns of unfair behavior towards some students by the teachers was brought up, the concerns were simply dismissed without investigating. Consequently, I would question if this school deserves our tax dollars and donations. Very poor experience so far. Hoping they can still remedy the concerns we have brought up.

principle sherman is rude and should have been a policeman instead of a principle, everyone at this school is asian or indian and its really disappointing in the lack of diversity the pick up and drop off situation is a disaster, don't come here unless you live walking distance because you will be waiting in a mile long line , this is an elitist school so the api scores are that because the parents are either tutor providing and/or one parent is home full time household my kids teacher was very nice very concerned although i don't believe she was a parent i did not like that i believe that only a parent can empathize with other parents concerning a child's learning, principal sherman will videotape you upon dropping or picking up your child there is no parking to park you car and take you child to school, you will have to arrive 30 minutes early in order to bring you child to school with out waiting in a 180 car pile up the street crossgaurds are inept and do not know what they are doing and they take matters into their own hands such as knock on your window to let you know what you are doing wrong or jump in front of your car to not let you pass by and they will harass. aviod this

The teaching here is pretty nice, though some of the teachers do just throw homework at the kids. But the most pathetic thing is the office staff! They are so RUDE! Once I went to the office after school waiting for my parent. I started doing my homework and the secretary just started yelling at me. I just said " I can do my homework!"(I had talked to my mom on the phone and she said she would be there to pick me up. So she called up my teacher and my teacher told her and she just scowled at me and sat down! Very rude people!

The teachers makes 20% effort and the remaining 80% is students plus their parents. Don't be fooled by the high api scores. Some teachers don't do anything other than gossip and shop online while sitting in the class. The district is negotiating the contract so the teachers are bitter, working to the contract, come around 7:45 and leave at 2:30 Pm.Some teachers can be actually seen talking on their cell phone , standing in the shade while they are on yard duty !! There are some teachers who are sincere towards their work but its like a drop in a bucket! Their API is higher because parents are made to teach and supplement through tons of homework !

Excellent school. The teachers care so much about the kids and go the extra mile to ensure that each child is accommodated. Top notch education always looking for way to keep the parents involved in our kid's success. They communicate very well. We receive updates each week via a individualized breakdown on each assignment and test/quiz grade. They are on top of their grading and never let anything fall behind. Weekly newsletter points out important dates and items specific to child's class. This school from k-6 are really involved with each student and their success. Even with a school of this size all of the teachers and staff know every student and have a singular focus towards offering a 1st class experience for all. Many parents are involved in the school through PTA and other organizations that help to shape the future of the school to meet everyone's needs. Very welcoming for new families and encourage involvement from the beginning to make this the best elementary school in the South Bay!

Teaching is so horrible! Too many drama as what my child said to me! Also, some lunch lady cannot give my son lunch because of "low balance of money"! How are they going to eat? They're going to starve!
