Teachers are below average and do not know how to explain the common core material themselves. Children are constantly bullied, physically and emotionally, in and out of class. Yard duty is often high school students who ignore children when they are becoming too aggressive-- my child was choked out twice in the same week and I wasnt told about it until Friday dismissal when I brought it up. I've stood and watched as children play during recess and again, yard duty is highly neglectful with watching children, even taking their phones out. 5 year old dress coded for tank top while boys in her class are wearing muscle shirts with no discpline given to them. Do not enroll your child here if you can help it. My child is now traumatised. The children here also seem to come from homes where disrespect and aggression is acceptable or normalised behavior. Curriculum is standard if not slightly below current expectations but the teachers do not give students who are not quite grasping the material any legitimate assistance.

The school office staff are are careless and unprofessional when you come to them about safety concerns about your child and the class learning curriculum for their students is too easy and does not adapt to the child's needs.

In my opinion, this is one of the worst schools my daughter has been to. We are originally from Clovis Unified in the central valley, so when we moved here to san jose, she knew nobody. The kids at this school dont seem to know how or when to be nice. She has always loved going to school, but since we moved, she doesnt want to go. My daughter comes home crying all day. I have talked to both the teacher and principle about the issue, but they dont seem to care. My daughter loves everyone(shes 7 years old, in 2nd grade now) and has never had an issue being mean to other students. She started telling me shortly after starting at Miner that the other students pick on her, and the tacher never has time to talk to her about things going on. I will be moving her schools real soon.

So pleased with this school. Warm responsive teachers, administration, and staff. Wonderful improvements in extra programs and innovative teaching methods. My children are loving school again and scoring higher than ever.

The teachers are awesome at this school. They care and keep you informed. The Principal & office staff show real care and concern for the students needs. The Parent Involvement really needs some work. The Home and School Club does the best they can, but would prosper and be a lot more successful if more parents made the effort of donating their time, talents, and resources. As a parents myself who did not feel she had anything to offer, there are many things that you can do to help. I challenge parents to step out of their comfort zone, and help this school go from a great to a awesome.
