Bernal has been an incredible experience for my daughter! She loves the welcoming campus environment, and the teachers have been so encouraging and supportive. Their dedication made her transition to this school seamless and stress-free. It's clear the staff truly cares about the student's growth and well-being. We're grateful to be part of this community.

COMMUNITY-This school has a lot of what teens call "edgers"- young men who flunk and may possibly be associated with gangs. There are quite a few of them but the overall student population is pretty decent. Yes a few people vape but its not a problem unless you're friends with them. One problem among the students is fighting. There was a fight on the second day of school and it even showed up on the local news. I'm on my second semester and I have seen about 4-5 fights through the school year. The fights I have seen are between people who have had or have had beef, and I've never seen someone attack another student out of the blue. Overall the community isn't the best I've seen but by carefully choosing your friends you can have a great time.TEACHERS-The teachers however, are caring and supportive and are pretty good by my standards.GRADES - The only people who fail are because they do not do the work, as most of the students here are motivated to learn. We have some pretty full compacted classes and there are about 100 7th grades who got the 4.0 honor roll. The teachers help by giving extra credit and give you a lot of resources so its pretty hard to fail a class if you do your work.ATTENDANCE- There is a fair share of people who come late frequently (including myself lol) but having 3 tardies in a week is an automatic detention and tardies may result in you not being to participate in school events, so tardies are enforced pretty well. Missing a day of school can make you fall behind slightly especially if you are in a compacted class so don't skip school.ELECTIVES- They have a lot of good elective choices here, such as band, art, chess, ethnic, etc... and the teachers are passionate about the subjects they teach. Some teachers double up, such as the band teacher also teaches 8th grade science.SUMMARY Overall this school has an ok community but has great teachers. If you are considering moving to the area near by I would recommend checking out Herman of Martin Murphy, two very similar and close schools. I hope my review helped!

Its like a prison in there. One time, a trashcan blew up next to the band room. Get out of there before the raccoon in the walls gets you

The teachers here are excellent and appear to be passionate about helping kids reach their potential, however the kids are constantly bullying each other in and out of the classrooms and many of them try to start fights with others. Cursing and insults are apparently common among the students as well. If kids speak up about it, they get bullied even more, so they don't feel safe speaking up. It's very sad what has happened to the public schools here and the "zero tolerance" doesn't appear to amount to much.

Excellent! Wish there were three grades here instead of two.

This was overall a great school. I'm a student and adored the school when I was a seventh grader, but this year, as an 8th grader, the science situation is disappointing. Halfway through the semester, they switched out a bunch of students to a new teacher who, to be fairly honest, wasn't very good at her job. The entire class is now very behind and just got another new teacher very near science state testing.
