Bullying and discrimination happened, and the school dealt with it. But the student continued to bully others. It seems that he has not been educated.

Now away from this school and at 9/10 rated school I can see how far Steinbeck is from a good school. Bullying and gangster mentality is breeding at Steinbeck and unfortunate future for many of these children there. It's not safe there, future for kids there is not promising unless they have great parents who get involved which there are many. Those parents have great kids but are abused by the poorly monitored ones as staff offers no support. I wish those great parents and their kids well and applaud them for their caring. I cannot applaud the school and it's staff.

My child has attended this school since Kinder and she's now in 6th grade. This school has a very active PTO, who plan and organize Fall Fest, Father Daughter/Mother Son Dance, Holiday Workshop, Movie Nights, Literacy Night and many more events throughout the year! PTO Has also funded a Full Time Art program for the past 18 years. They also have an amazing Teacher Staff throughout the grades. The school has a very strong sense of community where the parents and staff come together to make it a great learning environment for the children.

Bullying runs rampant here and is not dealt properly. My son who has an excellent academic record hates the school and delighted that we are moving. Great PTO but do not feel that a child is safe from bullying as we tried to talk to the principal and etc but nothing is ever done.

I really love the fact that the teachers and the PTO are so involved. Also the program that the school funds for itself is just awesome! My daughter before starting second grade here was at 3rd grade reading level and now after finishing second grade she is reading at 5th grade and she not only improve in that but also loved her art and music program at school! They are amazing!

The PTO is so involved. Students are part of a fabulous community at Steinbeck. While supporting the art program, the parents and teachers involve the students in so many wonderful events and activities like dances, luncheons, movie nights, game nights..etc..etc...the sense ofcommunity has never been stronger!!

Great teachers, great parents (those who actually help out in any way) I'd like to see more activities and things centered around the kids just because and not have the only reason we do something for them to raise money. Their are many things we can improve on a lot of which require little or no money. A big reason for this situation is the lack of parent volunteers/donations. One possible reason we may be lacking help is because there isn't a decent system in place to communicate to parents. The PTO and many teachers aren't working together so that is one reason parents simply don't know help is needed. I think if parents and teachers all got on the same page and were excited about our school we could make a big difference! I'd love to see a spelling bee, family reading night, spirit days, holiday themed celebrations, student government, sports for the lower grades, school and/or possibly student ran newsletter, student reading contest, jog- a- thon and fitness week (which are in the works) ect, ect. The bottom line is to see these improvements and have some fun while teaching our children we need parents to help in anyway they can and teachers need to get excited as well!

I love going to this school, like any other schools it had it's up and downs however it had more ups than downs than I can recall. I know the school right now is going to some hardship but the school was better served when Dr. Loya (RIP) was serving as superintendent; my class was fortunate enough to see him before he was forced to retire due to leukemia, after the school went to a talespin, but I think it's coming back to it's normalcy. Also Bob Schaar (RIP) may the school all worthwhile, Bob-o you're surely missed my friend. He was a child's best friend while being a superior supervision to the kids and always wanted to helped out anyone that need his help.
