Wonderful community for any special learner to receive individualized supports in education and therapy.However, the reality of affording this lovely school is another matter. Even with financial aid from the school, tuition is over $1,000 a month for the poorest families. Plus, the board keeps increasing tuition, when it’s not necessary.That might explain all of the workshops from the business office on how to afford a private education. They know the board is pricing families out of attending Miriam School, and since they won’t accept medical insurance for the therapies by certified staff, and expect you to write it off on your tax return, it’s turned into the haves and have nots.The school has turned into a playground for the millionaires who have special needs children, unfortunately.

My child was here for a few years and we loved it when he was younger. My main issue was that he fell behind academically. They covered very little ground each year. They always discouraged me from mainstreaming him yet he was fine when we finally did. Made me wonder if the goal is to keep the kids there through the high school.

Our experience was average. In some ways it was wonderful: the school is patient and loving. In other ways, it was subpar. The academics are watered down and they did not push my son to his full learning potential. We kept him there for a few years and only after we mainstreamed him, did we see just how “fluffy” the Miriam school was academically. It was an easy fix at the time though. Our son was struggling in a regular school so the significantly easier academics took away the struggle. But long term, it didn’t do him any good.

We transferred our son to Miriam in 7th grade and it has been a wonderful experience for him and our family.

If you want your child to watch movies, not play outside and have their math and reading program time cut, spend the money at Miriam. We opted to move to public schools and leverage the power of SSD. I would advise against sending anyone to Miriam.

$25000 playschool. We trasferred our child there from a public school and have been very disappointed. Academics are very weak.
