I have a 3rd and a 5th grader attending this school, and both have attended since kindergarten. They have always had excellent teachers, and as a whole I find the quality of instruction and teaching methods to be great. The instructional specialists and school psychologist seem to have a great vision and put effort into supporting a strong curriculum. However, the constituency of the school is a real problem. Often my kids' classmates don't seem to value education and act out in a way that is disruptive and takes away from valuable instructional time. Also, because this neighborhood is poor, with many parents who can't or don't support education at home; many of the children are underperforming and therefore a child has to be doing exceptionally poorly in order to receive educational interventions in this school. There is no math intervention, only reading. I feel that the benchmark for when extra educational help is required is set much lower in this school than in other districts that I'm aware of that are richer and whiter than this one. These are clearly SES issues that are an example of what's wrong with the public school system in Missouri. Finally, the school does not challenge academically gifted children, and because of many peers who are struggling academically and behaviorally, teachers just don't have the time to support more capable students in reaching their potential. Overall, I believe that this could be a decent school for a child who is self-motivated to learn and supported by parents who actively enrich their education and character development from the home. The cost of nice houses in the area is low!

My child came from a Riverview School District and was not pleased at all. Larimore I believe is a decent school so far this is my childs 1st year there (2nd grd) and his teacher keeps me informed and they helped him when he was having issues with his reading.
