What we thought would be a dream come true for our 5 year old who has some special needs, turned out to be a nightmare. We should have heeded the first sign of trouble when enrollment process was so unorganized that this place would be a chaotic nightmare. School gives a feeling of a set from the Walking Dead. Kids wandering around not knowing where to go, what to do. Our son was able to run out of the his kindergarten room on the very first day of school. We received a phone call 15 mins after we left him there that he was "non compliant". Seems like a quick jump to conclusions and no effort to handle the situation and work on the poor supervision of the students. For such a small school it's very hard to get in touch with anyone of authority. We had to wait 3 full days to a a meeting with the director of the school who made all sorts of judgments about our son...a kid she never even laid eyes on prior to the meeting or "studied". If you are looking for a school full of drones and zombies...this is the school for you. They spend a lot of time emailing you for donations than they do providing and catering to children with special needs. Absolute disgrace.

St Johns Grammer School has been a blessing to our family. We moved our son from public here in St Johns County for MANY reasons including but not limited to bullying, STRESSED TEACHERS taking their frustrations on our children, teacher threatening my child, missing lunches because a teacher "forgot"!?? a principal who finds it extremely hard to be positive, to smile at our children and many of us parents yet has shown signs of accomplishment behavior actions when BULLYING "her" staff, teachers, parents & our children. Explained to by many parents as a horrible person and bully herself many have tried to get replaced.. MANY calls to St Johns County School Superintendent Dr. Joiner went ignored without 1 of our calls returned... I could continue on and on but I think those who are reading this gets my point.... OUR PUBLIC SCHOOLS HERE IN ST JOHNS ARE IN SERIOUS TROUBLE & FALLING HARD AND FAST.....YES ST JOHNS GRAMMER SCHOOL HAS BEEN A BLESSING, The staff and their curriculum thus far has been wonderful.Respectfully, Past Middle School Parent Of Swiss Point Middle School Mrs. Roberts

My child has been attending SJGS for two years and we love it. We have watched him learn and grow but I agree this school is not for everybody. We love how much time our child gets to just be a kid and play outsid. We struggled with two other schools before we found this one and now I finally feel that we found the right one for our child.

Disorganized, lack of care. Teachers are not motivated but work in fear of the owner of the school. This school has no board, and I seriously doubt has any accreditation at all. I would keep looking...it is all about the might dollar here.

Expelled with no reason whatsoever. No explanation other that my 9 and 10 year old "did not fit in". Now we have no school to turn to for the last part of the year...6 weeks of school left and would not let them finish, now what? No school for my kids? HEARTLESS and EVIL. How could you do this to 2 little girls? What is wrong with you people?!

If you're looking for a babysitter this school year, look no further. If you're looking for financial headaches, you found it! The grounds are beautiful and your children will have plenty of outside time, so don't expect much actual work to be done or for your student to learn much. In the Middle School, If your student turns in homework, they will get an "A", it's that easy! Don't expect graded papers, textbooks or a curriculum because you'll never see it. Certainly don't leave your student in After-Care as their staff will never get off their bum.

I think overall this is an excellent school. My son attends this school in kindergarten and we are very happy with his education, his teacher and with the rest of the faculty. This is a very friendly and nurturing environment. With the small class sizes, this school offers plenty of one-on-one time between the teachers and the students. I highly recommend this school.

My son has been attending SJGS since August of 2013. He is in Kindergarden. Before choosing a school for him I took into careful consideration what I felt he would benefit from in a classroom and school setting. I can see why some parents would not understand or agree with the way this school is run...it is true that it is different than traditional schools. And that is exactly why I selected SJGS for my son. I believe in children's individuality, in their need for attention and room to be creative and inquisitive. I love the fact that my son runs around a track before getting down to learning in the classroom. Physical activity is great for him. My son is in Kindergarden and is doing double digit addition and subtraction as well as early multiplication. He is learning to play the violin, knows how to read, his handwriting has improved and he has made friends with children of all ages. This school is not an upscale private school with the latest in technology. But every teacher knows my child. And they tailor lessons to best suit his learning style. And to me that is worth the cost of tuition.

Love this school. My child is encouraged by the positive feedback of her teachers. This is the next best thing to homeschooling!

I am so thankful for Saint Johns Grammar School! My two children have both attended since they were four years old. My oldest is now in his 7th year and we are as happy today as we were 7 years ago. The education my children receive is above grade level and taught by caring professionals. Children are treated as individuals, and the small class size allows the teachers to get to know each child and tailor their individual learning plan. Although they certainly have textbooks, the campus is beautiful and affords learning opportunities beyond those found in books. However the students do spend the majority of their time learning in their well stocked, comfortable classrooms. The violin teacher is patient, kind and experienced in teaching children of all ages. Violin has been proven to aid in neurological development. Also, it is fun! The school is an open campus and parents are welcome in their children's classrooms at any time. I have personal communication with the teachers daily and any concerns I have are addressed. Frankly my teachers are amazing and could not be replaced! Parent involvement is encouraged on the campus and volunteer opportunities abound. SJGS is wonderful.

This school should be considered an alternative school. If you are looking for an education for your average to above average child then this is not the school for your child. There are no text books in the lower school grades. There might be some in the middle school grades but we pulled our kids from this school before they got to the middle school grades. We saw their little bit of class work that they would bring home. And the work the teachers were giving was below grade level. They are big on trying to sell every parent on their "Neuro" program as it makes them more money. A vast majority of educational time is wasted outside every day. And no not hands on learning outside but playing. In the morning your child walks the track so the mosquitos can be fed. I suppose the school has never heard of spraying or using mosquito dunks so the children don't have to be food for the mosquitos. There are much better schools for the same price out there. Do your child a favor and pass on this school!

Thank God for SJGS!!! This school has truly been an answered prayer for our family! My son has been going to SJGS for 2 years and he has made phenomenal progress. The excellent teaching, in addition to intensive neurodevelopment; has changed him from a child who was unhappy, struggling academically, and a behavior problem in the public school to an extremely happy, cooperative, and successful student at SJGS. When he started second grade at SJGS, he couldn't read at all. The professionals at the public school and even in the private sector told me that he was always going to struggle academically and behaviorally. (His diagnosis from testing in kindergarten, was ADHD with ODD.) After a heart breaking first grade year at the public school where he was picked on and made fun of by the other kids, our family decided to look for other schools. After starting second grade at SJGS, the teacher immediately recognized that he learns differently and created an education plan adapted to his unique learning style. I am proud to say that not only is my son learning and being successful (both academically and behaviorally) he is literally thriving!

My child attended St. Johns Grammar School. And I can attest to the fact that my child did not have any text books. My child was spending the majority of school time outside with St.Johns Grammar School. We offered to volunteer many times while my child attended this school and was told they don't really need any help they are self sufficient. My child was not challenged academically at this school.I agree about the mosquitos being horrible at this school. They need to spray! The communication at this school was horrible.St. Johns Grammar school tuition is no lower then some other private schools around. My child is attending another private school now for the same price of tuition as St. Johns Grammar but with so much more!My child is now being challenged and loving it!My child is on a well maintained campus with no mosquito or snake problems. If you are looking at St. Johns Grammar School they will tell you whatever you want to hear.Keep looking there are much better schools!

I'm shocked with the negative reviews of this school. I volunteered often and assure you that your child does not spend too much time outside and of course the school has text books! Walking the scenic track every morning before class, receiving violin lessons from a member of the Jacksonville Symphony and the simple environment are what makes this school special. Your child learns self discipline and study habits that are invaluable to their academic career. Their advanced Math program is unmatched (K-8) and will have your child learning well above grade level. In every subject, they take the time to lead your child through lessons that are challenging instead of unknowingly charging ahead. Decker Hall (lower grades) is staffed by highly qualified teachers who will educate your child to their fullest potential. Your child is an individual and the small class size creates a comfortable learning environment. My daughter is now in her first year of high school and we owe a lot of her current academic success to Saint Johns Grammar. I have SJGS to thank for their moral character building and strong academic foundation that will serve her well throughout her life.

We are very happy with the education that our child is receiving and the caring nature of the educators there. Our daughter transferred to Saint Johns Grammar from public school and is finally getting the education she deserves. They don't "teach to the test" like public school but assuredly challenge your child beyond that. The price of tuition is surprisingly lower than most schools in the area and they keep their classes small. Any concerns that we have had as parents have been immediately addressed by the staff and remedied. Our daughter is free to be herself at SJGS and we couldn't be happier. She has learned more there than we thought was possible for her age. Thanks Saint Johns Grammar!

This school misses the mark in so many ways! Please do your homework and figure it out for yourself. This schools cirriculm is missing, science, social studies, history. The conditions of the campus are less than acceptable and unsafe. We were told the teachers where certified before enrolling and that was not true. Children spend 3/4 of the day outside at recess instead of learning. Spend your money on a school that will teach your child and prepare them for higher learning. Also the communication is non exsistant at this school! So glad I decided to look elsewhere because " The grass IS greener on the other side!"

I agree with the last reviewer. If I could give negative stars I would too! This school makes plenty of empty promises. They will tell you whatever they think you want to hear.It is an overpriced babysitting service.Your child will spend the majorityof their day outside playing not hands on learning. The are no text books. The lead teacher in Purvis loves to tell all the parents that their child cannot make it anywhere else. That this school is the only school for your child. The school doesn't want parents to volunteer because we might see behind the scenes!First thing in the morning your child walks the track next to the lake so they can be eaten up by mosquitos. There is no communication or parent teacher conferences. The violin teacher loves to tell you that your child has a gift so he can get you to take private lessons.Ask why there is no history, social studies, etc. For the same tuition price your child can go to a real school and get an education not be babysat.St.Johns Grammar will tell you that your kid needs Neuro.Waste of time and money! But it does make them money. This is a place to warehouse your child not educate your child!Do your child a favor and take them to a real school!

I have two children that have attended/attend St. John's Grammar School. The education here is tailored to each child and their individual needs. Every teacher and faculty member knows each child at the school. My children thrived both academically and socially. My one child who has since leaving started a college prep school, and was way ahead of his class thanks to his 3 years at this school. There is nowhere like it on earth. My other child who at kindergarten was not progressing went from barely counting to multiplying in a year. These teachers truly have the key to unlock the hidden talents in every child's brain. We are so fortunate to be a part of this educational institution.
