The community is amazing there is so much freedom and everyone is so kind and so sweet and everyone helps each other when they are sad. This is the best school ever. Everyone sticks together as a team and helps each other out. There s so many exciting challenges and events that I can’t wait to face so far from the challenges I have done are amazing.

My daughter attended this amazing school and completed her 1st grade there during the pandemic. We moved from South Florida to St. Johns and didn’t feel comfortable at that time taking her to the public school before the vaccines were out. I feel blessed that I met the most wonderful people that gave us all the support we needed during that difficult time. My daughter Sophia not only found her voice at River Oak but also had the opportunity to participate in innovation and entrepreneurship activities that were life changing for her. Sophia developed deep friendships in this almost “magical” environment that sees each individual as a person and their unique needs. From a learning perspective we had to supplement a bit some areas like Math and Science during summer, however she developed some amazing writing and reading skills at River Oak Academy using the “waseca” method. At the end of 1st grade her level of reading and writing was equivalent to 4th grade. Thanks to Mrs. Mary, Vincent, Vanessa and all that makes River Oak Academy such an amazing place for children. This is one of the “Best kept secrets” in Saint Johns, FL.

It seems like a great school but they don’t know what they are doing and punish kids for being different

There is no other school like this in NE Florida. Staff is dedicated to the development of the whole child, and leadership is very caring and transparent. The campus itself is absolutely gorgeous and very spacious, with the one-of-a-kind Outdoor Classroom as a major draw for families. I’m humbled and honored to work for a school that truly puts a child’s happiness and interests first. Admissions is very selective, as the school allows for a maximum 10:1 teacher student ratio, which fosters a real sense of community. Curriculum is unique, play-based, and promotes collaboration rather than competition. Yet, children in Acton-affiliated schools routinely test at least two grade levels ahead of peers at traditional schools because the learning is so individualized and honors each child’s natural strengths. This builds their confidence and establishes a growth mindset, enabling our learners to all succeed and then grow some more - at their own pace. River Oak is an amazing place to work! It is incredibly fulfilling to see the kids enjoy school and contribute to making this the best experience possible for them. Many of our children ask, “Why can’t school be 7 days a week?” This speaks volumes! So happy and proud to be a part of River Oak Academy.

We truly love our school. River Oak Academy has provided nothing more but excellence. The staff and teachers are very caring, our daughters have gotten more individualized attention than they ever had before. Our girls have not only approved academically, but also in overall health. They’re more outgoing, more empathetic of others, more healthy, simply happier. River Oak Academy provides a high quality, personalized learning in a family-type environment, successfully preparing students for their future education, growth and development. The girls absolutely love their school, wake up in the morning ready to tackle the day, especially since every day is a new adventure of learning and fun discoveries for them.
