We love Collins pk-8th! Our daughter has attended for a few years and will continue through 8th grade here. We were thrilled when they expanded through middle school as the zoned option before had some troubling reviews. We have zero complaints about Collins. The staff all take their jobs seriously and the teachers truly care about the students and want them to succeed. Their A rating backs up their excellent test scores and goes to show that they are truly putting education and safety first. My youngest will be attending kindergarten in the fall and we feel so blessed to live in a neighborhood where our children can safely walk or ride their bikes to school every morning and receive an excellent education.

This really is a great school, one of the best in Hillsborough County.Collins is K-8 now, which is awesome.Teachers, administrators, and staff are all very communicative and helpful. My kids have thrived in this environment, and yours will too. Most of the kids ride bikes or walk, which gives mornings and afternoons an adorable 80's vibe.Highly highly recommended.

Terrible school! The principal herself does not know the rights of the students. Not a safe environment for children with disabilities.

Amazing school with amazing administrators, teachers, etc. We're very happy we chose Collins for our daughter. However, I think all schools need to do better in protecting our children. In addition to a resource officer, there should be a full-time person devoted only to guarding and protecting everyone at the school. Make sure all doors and gates are protected and there are no glass doors that can easily be shot through.

My child transferred to this school two years ago when we moved. I was worried that since Collins was a bigger school with considerable more children than our last school, that we would feel like “just another face” but the exact opposite has been true. Teachers, staff, and the principal make an effects to get to know each child and make them feel welcome and like they have a place at the school. Multiple staff greet each morning as they arrive. You will often hear the teacher and staff giving positive encouragement to the kids as they arrive. This is a great way for them to start the day. My child feels supported and happy at this school. There are numerous events for the kids throughout the year for the kids, and the school has a very active PTA that also invest a lot into the school.

I would give them an A! I love that it is so close to home, they do fun events throughout the year, the principal communicates with the families and the front office is always friendly and willing to help! Someone mentioned about not having an ID.... that is for the safety of all children... everyone must have a driver's license or state ID go on campus.

Excellent! I have two children ages 10 & 13. Both started Kindergarten at Collins. One is now in middle school & the other is a Collins 4th grader. I loved this school so much I became PTA President for a year and then chose to join the Collins team as a staff member!

We moved to the area from south Florida. We were disappointed with Collins from the start. There is no extra effort put forth by anyone on the staff. When I went in with concerns, they were brushed off. Grades dropped. Teachers don't effectively teach. And all the administration feels is important is the attendance rate... would not recommend this school.

We love Collins! This is our 4th year and we couldn't be happier. Very grateful to live near a school we can trust with our child's education and safety.

When we were looking to purchase a home, schools were a huge deciding factor. We chose our home in part for the amazing reviews of Collins. We've been Collins Panthers for four years and have not been disappointed. This year we have a new principal, one new AP and many new teachers and staff. Principal Sargable is an absolutely incredible, hardworking woman who truly cares for the students and their families. AP's Johnson & Ritari are amazing and the teachers both new & returning are awesome. My children have thrived academically and the teachers truly are concerned with their students.Another poster mentioned below that volunteers were hard to come by and the PTO was disorganized. People who generally say that are people who don't/won't volunteer their time. I've never had a problem volunteering my services and have always been encouraged to do so. The PTA hosts many family events and I imagine will continue to do so. As a result of the PTA's hard work and Collins being a great school, they were recently awarded the National PTA's School of Excellence honor for the 2015-2017 term. That's an award given to only 125 schools across the country! Www.pta.orgCollins also received a grade of A- by Niche for their 2015 Best Schools... Making it the top elementary school in Riverview and the ONLY school in Riverview (elementary, middle & high) to receive an A level grade. HTTPS://k12.niche.com/rankings/public-elementary-schools/best-overall/s/Florida/Everyone is different and is going to have different experiences. The overall consensus is that Collins is a phenomenal school and only getting better.

Collins Elementary School is a GEM nestled in the beautiful Panther Trace community. The teachers, staff and administration are forward thinking, focused on education and development of their students and truly make this establishment a school of excellence. The PTA is rock solid and has done an excellent job partnering with the school, teachers, administration, students, parents and businesses in the community. Collins is a premium level campus in the Riverview area.

Collins Elementary is very mediocre school. My children came from one of the best schools in the state of Florida end Collins has no comparison to their previous school. Academically children are not challenged enough, my kids were straight A students before now they are slipping down to B and C because the teachers don't care. The PTO is a joke, all their events are poorly organised and not enough parent involvement. My kids were riding a bus without air conditioning and we are in FLorida, it gets really hot for the most part of the year. Parents keep calling the school but so far nothing is done about it. Last year a girl fainted coming out of the hot bus. The cafeteria is awful, the personnel treats the children very badly, the food is not enough and when the 5th graders come for lunch at 12.30 most things are gone. Not to mention that the regular milk is constantly bad. I will not recommend this school to anybody!

Love Collins! In my opinion, what makes Collins great are the Principal, Mr. Simms, and Assistant Principal, Ms. Madill. Responsive, caring, warm - if you've ever had the opportunity to speak with either of them, you get the sense that they genuinely love and respect their jobs. For as large as a school as it is, I feel like they know the students, all of them! And, if those in charge are so wonderful, what does that tell you about the other staff/faculty that are employed there - just fantastic!

I have just moved to the RIVERVIEW area from a very small town in TN. I have 2 daughters ages 6 and 9 the 6 yr old will be in K and the 9 yr old is going into the 4 th grade !! My 9 yr old is ADHD and has had a rough past year since we lost my husband and their dad in an accident and witnessed the tragedy!! She had a lot of problems staying focused In our small community school in Tn. It isn't that she isnt smart because she is a very bright and mature 9 yr old but the ADHD and the emotional problems wouldn't let her stay focused on her studies !! I don't know anything about the schools here and when I look up what school they should attend it tells me SUMMERFIELD CROSSINGS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL which is very close to where we live actually It's not even a half a mile from us but I want them to go to a good school where they can learn and have teachers that understand the struggles of ADHD AND THE EMOTIONAL PROBLEMS DAUGHTERS HAVE BEEN FACED WITH SO I AM ASKING FOR ANY ADVICE ANY ONE HAS TO OFFER ON WHICH SCHOOL WOULD BE BEST FOR THEM !! Thanks in advance !!!

I can imagine what the poster meant by "pleasure" through my own brief experience. My child had two subjects with this teacher and the homeroom teacher taught the others. The homeroom teacher had the other conducted one of her parent teacher conferences. Talk about night & day. She only focused on the negative and seemed to make a huge effort to find fault ( your child is a little chatty - don't I know that? they do great, but ) and spoke to me in a condescending tone throughout the whole conference. My child is an A student with top FCAT/SAT scores & extremely well behaved. He is not perfect; and I ve acknowledged his weaknesses with his teachers. I ve never had anyone speak to me in that manner before. Sure, every kid has their faults, but her approach was awful and made me glad she was not his main teacher. I have had mostly great experiences with teachers there. My children have never complained about any of them and I m sure this one does what s required of her job.

I LOVE this school! It was soooo sad to leave! You will LOVE this school here. The staff is incredibly nice, and they plan big and fun events and fundraisers all the time! The teachers give you different strategies on how to learn things, and those strategies certainly help out in the future! I still use the "touch-math" method from 1st grade! The only thing is that parents may have difficulty helping children on their homework because they learned it differently. Also, this school is very big on FCAT. They put a lot of weight on your shoulders about it, and say its no big deal. Other than that, this school is great. I have had lots of memories here, made tons of friends, (some even from different grades) and if you are going into 5th grade at this school, your last year here will be amazing!!!!
