I had fun here, bullying was practically non-existent since everyone kept within their crowd. My teachers made me feel appreciated even when I was struggling academically.

The learning and education is good and helped prepare me for high school, but the community is a toxic wasteland with borderline racists. Teachers tend to coddle white kids and ignore whatever things they do that could get other POC in trouble. They also showed more polite gestures towards other white kids and ignore others in the morning before school starts.During middle school, I had a heavily stressful time and even cried a few times because I got in trouble for a trivial thing that never even happened. A teacher I had would usually give me weird stares whenever I talk to my friends during class. I had a stressful time in their class because I was not naturally good at that subject as some other kids were and highly cared about my grades. One day, I was walking to school and they called me because I was accused of saying something I didn't say, started to yell at me, and thought I was lying even though they had no evidence of such incident other than some other kid who twisted a conversation I had with my other friends. They ordered that I had to go to the principal's office after school and I thought I was at huge risk of getting suspended over something so dumb with no evidence. Luckily, nothing happened and I was cleared of the charge, but it was still so stupid. Since that day, I was more quiet and kept to myself during classes and funnily enough was glad the pandemic hit so that I can take care of my own mental health.I also have other friends who had their own struggles and issues because of things such as ADHD or dyslexia and teachers did barely anything that could help them. There is another comment that explains more about the toxicity, so I would recommend to read that too. The reason why I gave it two starts is because their education helped me personally and that I met good friends there. If your child has any learning disorders or a POC, I would think twice before sending your child there.

going here is truely a experience! When you go to tucker you’ll definitely find your group of people . There are a lot teachers that genuinely care for you. One of my personal favorites is Mrs.Jhonson , she’s a great science teacher.

Finding a teacher who genuinely cares about their job and the kids (and isn't burned out) is rare anymore. At least in the Henrico County school district. If there are any of these teachers at Tucker, I haven't come across one yet in the 3 years my child has been there. The amount of bullying, fights, illegal substances and lack of learning that happens at Tucker is ridiculous. A new building isn't going to help.

This is a great school. The leadership is supportive and positive and the kids are so caring towards each other. A hidden gem!

Very satisfied. The school has complied when I’ve requested meetings. The administrators will take & return calls. The school provides many extracurricular activities and volunteer opportunities for students to become engaged in and expand the student learning experience.

Best four years of my life! Tucker being a high school with three specialty centers (Advance College Academy, IB, and World Languages/Immersion), the people in and out of all classes are usually very accepting and fun to be with! Teachers work to their best abilities to make sure all students understand their courses and they are very passionate in what they teach. Even though the school "looks" rundown and old, it's actually more beautiful than what meets the eye. I LOVE the art walls and the campus life-style. Words cannot describe my fondness for this school. I graduated with many memories and life skills.

JR Tucker High School is extremely diverse. We all are from across the world. Though there are many different nations and languages at the school, we all are united by our passion for being apart of the Tiger Nation.

Tucker is a good place to be. We learn about real world situations and learn from our differences. There is 'unity in diversity' and we have to work on it continuously.
