It is a small town school, and so there is a Social Hierarchy in which people base their entire lives on. There is a prominent issue with racism/sexism/homophobia as well as monetary class separation. Bullying is a major problem as well, as most students who are unpopular or not in sports are ‘worthless’ to the school to include the different art programs I.e. choir, theater/drama, art. Families are denied the opportunity to have any say in the student’s learning and the special education program forcefully holds back the kids rather than help them achieve the basic necessities for life outside of a K-12 environment. Some of the teachers pick favorites and distract others from learning while other teachers focus on the student’s capabilities and push them to become better, there is no true balance. Students have little to no respect for most teachers as the school district is against any of the teachers using their position of authority to discipline students, this causes a basic breakdown of interaction.

Richmond High school is the worst school I have ever had to deal with. Unless you were born and raised in this town, the teachers and coaches are extremely biased. Students from out of town are not given the same oppurtunities in sports. They do not work to help the students with disadvantages such as ones with learning disabilities. They are very one sided on the way they discipline the students that are not from there. My children have been mistreated and have gotten stricter disciplines than some of the students whose families have lived here their whole life. kids that have done the same things as my children have gotten a lighter punishments. Example my son got kicked out of school for saying to boy #1 that he likes( jody) . Then another boy acted like he was going to tear up a note and that he took off of boy 1's desk and boy #2 got up and him and boy #1 got into a fist fight. My son got kicked out of school for saying this boy liked this girl but the 2 boys that got into a fist fight in the school got 1 day of ISS. I would not recommend moving your children to this school. HORRIBLE SCHOOL!!!!!

Academics and athletics are balanced, teachers are focused on the classroom and personal experiences of every student. Students are actively engaged in the specifics of their personal education. The staff has a real love of teaching, with leadership from within. The principal and assistant principal are wonderful supports for the school, encouraging everyone to develop to their fullest potential. Safety measures have been implemented to ensure a learning environment that is secure in the knowledge that intruders will not be a problem. The academic program is improving and Great Schools has not recognized this improvement very well. Go to the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education website to really get a good picture of how this school is doing. Testing results should never be the entire method of setting a rating scale. Look at the activities and support from the community, where the graduate are going after their senior year, etc.
