A few years ago I would have given this school an extremely high rating. After what happened with my child in the 3rd grade I want this to be a warning to all parents who are thinking about enrolling thier children. The teacher in question is still working there. Even after we brought hard evidence to the principal about what was going on with our child. We were met with due to staffing issues the principal will always choose a teacher over a student. Take this as you will but I will always protect my child. That being said my child is immunocompromised and classified as Nero divergent due to complications with the massive side effects due to his allergy medicine. I had had amazing support from his teachers in the past and I didn't think this year would be different. I brought the teacher everything from his OT therapist right from day one. The teacher could not be bothered. In front of the principal it was a different story and I noticed my son developed severe anxiety. He came to us as parents fearful of the teacher. This has never happened in the past as he had been going to St. Marks since PreK. He was put on medication to help which I am ashamed about. He explained that the teacher was bullying him. We had no hard evidence until the end of the year and we did address it. The principal told us the entire year to trust. We did and found our child was telling the truth. The super independent was made aware and nothing came about it. We pulled our child even though he would not have that teacher for the following year. We refuse to be around people that compromise our core beliefs what is right and wrong. Use it as a PreK and leave. As far as higher education, I hope to see the school return to the quality it was years ago. It has "fallen from grace" and I believe needs new leadership. If your child needs any accommodations it depends on the teacher. Which unfortunately last year the one he had could not be bothered. My child now goes to public school which is much larger. He has 5 teachers and not a single one has an issue. We had massive issues last year but not one issue this year! Problem was never my child. It was a lazy teacher who refused to make tiny accommodations put in place by his OT therapist at the start of the year to try and help both my child and teacher. Go with a public school and get a 504.

I rate it very highly. I am currently the secretary at St. Mark, but both of my grown children attended through 5th grade. St. Mark has always been a school that encourages academic achievement and public interaction. It expects students to adhere to Christian principles and teaches personal responsibility. Teachers work with individual students and groups to attain and achieve set goals through out the school year.

My child has been at St. Mark School for 7 years now, and she has grown as a scholar, leader, and saint. Parents, teachers, staff, and leaders have all been great to work with, and they truly listen to our concerns and work with us to help all students progress in their goals and potential. St. Mark School has laid a strong foundation for my child's development not only as a student, but as a decent human being. We have loved being a part of the St. Mark School family.

Saint Mark is the only fully accredited faith-based school in Madison County. If you are looking for a school with small class sizes, teachers who teach with passion, and where every single student is at or above grade level, then search no more. We have had our oldest in their Pre-K program since she was 2 and her development has been amazing to watch. Along with an exceptional K - 5 program they have the only Pre-K program in which children can go full time/part time, full day/half day. The best part is they can continue up through 5th grade so that they really get a sense of family in addition to a quality education.

My husband and I checked out several schools in the area and chose St. Mark initially for the warm reception we received when inquiring about the school. Once there we couldn't believe how our daughter flourished. Our son is now in the three year old program and he wakes up excited to go to school. We are Christians so the faith based environment is icing on the cake! We think of our children's education as a lifelong investment that is sure to have a large return. To sum it up.....our children are receiving a GREAT education in a NURTURING and SAFE environment where everyone VALUES and RESPECTS one another. It doesn't get any better than this.

My daughter is in 1st grade, her 3rd year at St. Mark. She is excelling so well in her subjects and she is loved and cared for in the school. I love working with all the parents on the PTO and my 3 year will be going to the new 3 year old program in August 2011. My mother-in-law taught at this school for almost 12 years and it is wonderful. I also love that the kids pray in church daily.

We recently moved to Richmond and are so happy with the quality of St. Mark School. Our son is in 1st grade, our daughter is in Pre K. The small class size and hands on approach are invaluable. *St. Mark just upgraded the Pre K & K to "ALL DAY" 5 days a week! I am not aware of any other program besides day care in Madison Co that offers a full curriculum all day program that is available to all children! This school also has raised large sums of money to solidify it's future for years to come. Thanks to generous donnors like Harry Connic Jr. & Dolly Parton. The excellent teachers, class size, test scores, and christian learning environment are fantastic and our children have never been happier. This is a Catholic school, however, it is welcoming of children of all faiths to attend. The schoold does an excellent job of weaving christian values into daily life while providing a safe and structured learning evironment. Parents are welcome & encouraged to have an active role. Oh, I also love that I can walk my child to class daily and that gives me an opportunity to check in with the teacher. You owe it to yourself to visit this school.
