I have 2 children that have attended the past 6 years and are in the Spanish immersion program. They love going to school everyday. The teachers communicate well with us weekly. They have walk-and-roll monthly, a community garden, after school programs, safety patrols, reading buddies, movies outside on a big screen, book fairs, band and chorus. The principle truely cares about the kids. Great community feel. My kids are learning a lot!

The principal Ms. Stewart is great and very responsive. Our child is special needs and they have supported and listens to our feedback as parents all the way. They also are a Spanish immersion school. Everyone in our neighborhood loved going there.

Realmente no me sentí cómoda al mandar a mi hija aquí, no tienen un flujo de comunicación buena, pedí una cita con la directora y todavía no tengo una respuesta ya pasaron más de dos semanas, mi hija tiene problemas de aprendizaje y ellos no se preocupan por eso.

There might be some good teachers here, but my personal experience gave me trauma. I experienced racism issues, bulling and blaming. Former student.

I love the positivity project, all children are taught to look after the younger kids and be stewards.I also love the leadership empowerment and organization for kids, of the morning and afternoon pickup/drop off.My daughter loves the school and her teachers, and I feel she is advancing academically and as a kind and open minded human being.

Our child was neglected on 3 occasions during his first 2 weeks! He was 9 y old back then. We moved in the Reston area in the middle of the school year. I have met teachers and they seemed nice. But in reality... I paid for his lunch at that very first day, but our son got no food for the whole first week. Bus driver was careless when he didn't bring our boy back home, at the office they just simply forgot to call me to tell that our child was lost in the school. And at last on one of his days in school he got headache. Nurse were keep sending our son back to classroom without addressing the issue, until he threw up in the corridor on the way back to the classroom, nobody cared about his complains till that moment. Principle did call with apologies, but I'm so happy that we bought a house in another school area! The worse experience in our life was over! If you care about your child - don't send it to Lake Anne Elementary School!

My experience with a child who has attended this schools for the past 3 years has been great! My child is in the Spanish immersion program and as a result has been exposed to amazing academic and cultural experiences.

I cannot say enough good things about Lake Anne Elementary school. My daughter is in kindergarten and her teachers, Ms. Bonilla and Ms. Walter are AMAZING. The principal, Jill Stewart is phenomenal! She very hands-on and is constantly coming up with new activities to unite the school. I would not want my children to go to any other school!

I love this school. My kid is in the Spanish language immersion program and is thriving. He successfully learned how to read by the end of Kindergarden and seems to be doing well. Having attended the parent activities I can see there are quality teachers who enjoy helping young kids

My daughter is in 2nd grade and in the Spanish immersion program. I can see a difference in her language learning especially this year. She has had wonderful teachers. The hardest part is having two teachers to connect with instead of one. But, this is necessary in immersion schools. I do think the parent-teacher communication could be improved. I rarely get emails from the teacher whereas my experience with another school is the opposite with many friendly email reminders from the teacher. I have had a few bullying incidents that my daughter has had to deal with-- on the bus and at school. The counselor talked with my daughter and appeared to work it out. Overall, I think my daughter is happy and she loves her teachers. The principal is exceptional and open to talking with parents whenever there is a concern. I think it's a school that is doing a lot of things well, but is still growing and improving.

Lake Anne has very weak teachers and counselors who are unable to adjust to children with a different learning style. The focus is on worksheet homework. If we had options for another school, we would pursue them.
