This school is alright if you are an extremely specific type of person - very conservative, evangelical, and looking to be surrounded only by people who think the same as you. Different viewpoints and identities are seen as a threat and discouraged with an attitude of fear and contempt. Me and many of my fellow alumni are still unraveling that profound pain that we experienced from not fitting into this type, and I know many of us that are women that faced sexism from both students and faculty. The academics are often wasted on droning on about lessons that strictly reinforce the evangelical worldview and ignore teaching basic concepts. There is no opportunity for advanced classes outside of math, and of course, there is nothing even remotely resembling sex education or financial literacy. I have found as an alumni that I have succeeded not because of my Dominion education, but in spite of it.

This school looked great on paper. However, the school was not remotely loving and understanding of my daughter.My daughter now says that if Christians are like the people at Dominion, she does not want to be a Christian.The teachers and administrators at the school destroyed my daughter's faith. I can never forgive it for that.

This school has a great Christian and academic foundation! They truly instill the love of learning in the children’s hearts in all they do!

It is a blessing and a privilege to have our son attend the North Campus of this school (the South Campus is wonderful too!). It's a wonderful location filled with teachers and staff who glorify God in the way they love and care for the students. Jesus is the foundation of everything that is taught at this school. If you're considering a Christian school for your children, I strongly recommend scheduling a tour so that you can see these things for yourself!

We are parents who never intended to send our kids to private school, so for us, Dominion has been a miracle. Due to health concerns a few years ago, midyear, we found that we couldn't homeschool anymore. We decided to send the kids to a Christian school in the area, but all were full where we lived. Mom called around and found that Dominion had one opening--a gift from God--and eventually, both kids went there. Even though it's a bit far for us, it is entirely worth the drive every day. Dominion is an oasis of learning--not to overstate the case at all--that has been our experience. The teachers are kind, loving, interesting, and smart. Their first love is Jesus. They get the best out of my kids but more than that, they care. It's quite clear that from the top down, Dominion has a purpose to teach kids to love God, love each other, love beauty and truth, and then--get into college. The order is exactly right in my view, although many parents will tell you it's a very rigorous school, which it is. I really don't know how it's done. I suspect it comes from Mr. Mitchell, the principal of the school, who knows all the students and cares for all the students so kindly. Dominion is expensive, but they have been more than understanding and helpful with financial aid. However, and I do not say this lightly, if you can afford it, it is a bargain at twice the price. The way my kids have grown there has been a true "God thing." They have learned about Homer, ancient history, classic American literature, church history, the Old and New Testaments and a lot more and they have learned these things deeply. They have done plays in drama with the amazing Ms. Hard. They have come out of their shells like never before. From the front desk to the teachers to the behind the scenes people to the financial aid department, Dominion has blessed us. We are so grateful to be here.

A tremendous academic and social experience. My daughter (7th grade) absolutely loves DCS. She has thrived there both academically and emotionally. Each grade is so close, gathering outside of school multiple times per year to build relationships and friendships. The House system also encourages friendships in other/older grades as well. Couldn't be happier as a parent.

Dominion is a special place – the kids are getting an excellent education, the community is amazing, and even though it costs more than public school, the value is still excellent. We’ve got three in the school, and they are all thriving there. I’m particularly impressed with the seventh grade, where they are studying some challenging texts and having insightful conversations.
