At first I thought it would be bad, but then when my son went there and I got to know the school more; I noticed that this is a really good school. I honestly have no idea why the rating is a six it should be a 8. I met the teachers and they were very nice to, not just me, but everybody including the students. I remember when some kids used to vape and smoke, but now it is so much different. My son, in 8th grade, has told me every day how the school has gotten better and my daughter also graduated from this graduated from this school and now she has heard the things her brother said. She now realizes how much the school has changed.

This school is dangerous! Do NOT send your children here unless you want them getting robbed, bullied, or extorted by drug-dealing students. Admin doesn't do much and there are dangerous fights in bathrooms almost daily. My student was scared to go to school and transferred out. They take the child's phone if it's out and keep it, sending the student off school grounds without any notice home so you don't know where your child is. Only 3 minutes to get to classes and teachers don't let you go to the bathroom sometimes. Students are only allowed 2 bathroom breaks and they are timed. It's like a prison. Absolute nightmare! Admin says they can't do anything about fighting or drug dealing unless they witness something but all the kids know who the drug dealers are and there are planned fights almost every day. May as well drop your child off in the worst neighborhood in the world and they'd fare better than this poor excuse for a "school".

My son was at LHMS through the pandemic and while county wide there were challenges with the e learning platforms, I felt the staff and teachers were very supportive and responsive. My daughter is now in 8th grade and it has been a very positive experience. Good communication from the school leadership and teachers, good education and strong social networks. Very happy with the school.

Overall pretty good school. A lot of people do drugs and vape and the teachers do nothing about it. I like all my teachers they are very nice and respectful towards me and my classmates. Kids in my school suffer from stress and depression and many say its the cause of the amount to work they do. In my opinion they don't give us a lot of homework. My teachers say "whatever you don't finish in class becomes homework." A lot of people do get bullied but honestly its not that harsh.

There is little to no homework, which was good during the Coronavirus pandemic. However, we use the online platform "Schoology" and the consensus of most students AND teachers is that we should switch to a different platform. The school also does not enforce the mask mandate as strictly as they should be. Also, there is still a large presence of bullying here. There is a lot of vandalism too. The AAP program is pretty good and the teachers are fun.

Horrible. There are thieves all over the school and nothing is done. Bullying is real here and the teachers don't care.

Teachers really show an interest in the students, constantly working to provide and improve the learning environment for them, and provide many opportunities for them to learn. They also have frequent communication with the children's parents and include them as a partner.

Hughes Middle School administration doesn't put the needs of students first. They have instituted illogical policies and scheduling systems. The administration is inflexible and office staff are unable to answer basic questions. Students attend class in trailers without restrooms in one of the richest counties in the United States. Despite this, there is fortunately good teacher and parent involvement and a wide choice of courses and activities.

I have been consistently disrespected by students when I substitute here. Many of the children that attend this school do not care, and many of the teachers has given up on them. I offered to help a student, but she told me "You're annoying me. Go away."

Excellent school with caring teachers and administrators. My child is a rising 8th grade AAP student and we've been very pleased overall and glad he decided to attend Hughes rather than his base school.

Middle school is difficult for any student anywhere is America. LHMS makes middle school as good as it can get.
