I was in a C-Stem Class so my learning experience was probably better than other kids in my opinion, but here are some pros and cons. The Pros are: The teacher teaches well, as most teachers try there ability to really teach their kids. The Cons are: the students and some people that work at the office. During my 1st year in this school there was a bomb threat and we were not informed nor parents and still went to school. Also a lot of bad kids. Some accidents included are: Drugs (plant, alcohol) - slightly common Weapons (guns, knives) - Very RareBullying - RareFights - Common Vandalism (graffiti, more) - Slightly Common The kids are a big reason why this is not a high ranking school but some of the adults also have problems such as:Not fixing Water Fountains Not fixing Bathroom DoorsNot fixing Soap Dispensers Not fixing Restroom Mirrors Not Making Urinal SpacersVery Dirty RestroomsHere are some other ratings (In My Opinion)Food - 1/5 Very Bad - Food Changes are mostly random for example same food for a week.I Recommend NOT eating heated food as it could lead stomach problems like diarrhea but that’s it. There are times where I don’t eat at all and wait till I get home.Security - 4/5 Good - The Security is good I won’t lie but I have been searched for a reason they didn’t want to give me or sent me up to the office feeling very confident that I did something bad. Other than that good Security as most problems (bullying, drugs, weapons, & other)Are surprisingly Handled very quickly.Respect (mostly students) - 0/5 Horrible - Racism Is very common in this school mostly the students same as slurs DO NOT USE THE RESTROOM IN SCHOOL if the school is to lazy to fix a broken door then I’m not going to use it. Kids give NO privacy when using the bathroom. In boy’s Restroom there are NO WALLS in between the urinals and just hope you don’t use number 2. Trash & urine is all over the floor most of the time not cleaned.Other:Teachers 3/5 ModerateStudents 1/5 Very BadThis School has very fun trips and classes but there’s just too many cons for me to recommend this school I Rate This School 2 out of 5 Bad.

The events at this school are great. However, there are a lot of fights, trash talking, and bullying. Some of the teachers are amazing, which includes Mr Baugh, Mr Rogue, Ms. Balestreiri, Ms. Hammond, Mr Aceto, and more. The counselors are very kind as well. The thing is you’re likely to be subject to drama, bullying, fights, trash talking, etc. Overall, I’d recommend this school for the staff and after school events. Also, when picking an elective, join AVID or art! They’re both so fun and I’m avid you go to knotts and colleges multiple times in the year. I’m in avid and it’s so fun.

My GATE identified student is being denied access to a quality education. Classes are catered to low performing students (such as CSTEM) and Honors classes were pulled for 6th graders. According to RUSD, equity means taking from the gifted and the motivated and pouring all the time, energy, and funding into one group rather than bridging the gap. The results will continue to be more and more parents like myself who pull their high quality academic oriented students due to a lack of programming catered to them and constant behavior and discipline issues that affect their ability to flourish. Disappointing is an understatement.

Please beware of sending your children to Cope Middle School. I’m highly disappointed with the school and it’s administrators. My child has been bullied and attacked at this school. This school has went from bad to worse with the new administration staff in 2020/2021 school year. When my child started at this school it was rated an 8 now it’s a 6. Cope had always been known as the best public middle school in Redlands. Not anymore! Please if you want your children to be safe do not send them to cope. I have pulled mine out because it is no longer a safe learning environment for my child. The one good thing I will say about this school is… The teachers. Cope has a handful of good teachers who actually care. It’s too bad those teachers can’t teach in a safe environment.

My son attended this school recently. It was rated 8 out of 10 when we moved to town, so we thought it was a good school. His experience was very negative. What some of the teachers said to him were abusive and those words are still haunting him even after several years. He did have one good teacher in sixth grade, but most of the others teachers were from mediocre to awful. I regretted that we didn't know about The Grove School sooner and was very glad that he found a much better school after leaving Cope. I am not surprised to see its rating goes down to 6 now. I think the school lacks an effective channel for students to express their dissatisfaction about their experiences. In such a wonderful neighborhood with many families who care deeply about education and are very involved with various school and extracurricular activities, Cope has no excuse to be performing at its current level.

Trust me you will make the memories of a lifetime with the teachers and you will definitely with your friends there is no way you won’t have friends at this school. It has the best AVID program on Earth and the education is beyond great! Staff and administrative and Principals are always amazing!

Problems at this school are varied. The most important problems are listed here in order 1) there is a complete lack of sex education (in the whole county) thus, many girls are sexually active with no protection, no guidance, and ALL the attendant problems leading to drop-outs and much worse. Google 'San Bernardino teen pregnancy rates'; the district is in denial, but the statistics don't lie. 2) there is also no school nurse and no feminine protection in the office or bathrooms. 3) there is no way for a student to fail a class, or get extra help or tutoring, short of being 'special education' which is a real shame because failing kids are just promoted, unprepared and lost 4) there are only two guidance counselors, and you can't choose yours, one has a really difficult time with not just guidance but forming coherent sentences. Lastly 5) this school has the strangest scheduling in the history of scheduling, I continue to hope there is a education theory behind changing class times daily, but, it just ends up meaning nobody knows who's coming or going, not the students, not the staff. All that aside, the school's rating is deserved if we grade the entire district on a curve.

I would not recommend a child to go to Cope. I went to Cope for my first two years and then transferred to a school in Yorba Linda. My First two years were great, I was in the dance team, took all honors, and was in the top 5% of my class. When I got to Yorba Linda, I was behind despite all of my training at Cope. I learned that there were kids who were taking 8th and 9th grade level classes when they We're still in 7th grade. I was bewildered, for I had gotten a 600 on my math STAR Test, yet there were a great deal of kids who passed me during math class. I had gone from the top, to the middle. In addition, there are few racers who are very involved with you, it it seems as if all of the good teachers have retired or gone somewhere else. You can also constantly hear kids cussing , bullying, and throwing racist remarks to others, including their friends. On the Redlands school district, cope may sound like a good school, but the truth is that simply will not prepare you for the competition in college.
