Hands down one of the most involved principals and staff I have seen! The entire staff is amazing even the janitors are all actively involved and have made all my kids experience at this school unforgettable. My oldest attended a different school in Redlands for a couple of years due to us moving. The fact that he was a struggling and performing below grade level at his previous elementary school and now is excelling and reading above his grade level in a matter of 2 years makes me so happy to see. The engagement and motivation the staff, teachers and the principal (Dr. Acosta) give my kids everyday has them excited everyday for school. Great communication from the school and teachers and just a great community. They undiluted me to be some even more involved with school activities as well!

My issue is not with the academic portion but more so how rude everyone is here..from the principal on down. No one ever looks happy, the students are never greeted in the morning (nor parents). I’ve witnessed children being hit by other children and the staff do nothing about it. Most of the staff just have really bad attitudes...I truly can not wait until my children are able to attend a different elementary.

This is my sons second year at Franklin and we have had such an amazing experience. In kindergarten he learned so much and his teacher was so friendly. She gave us workbooks for him to work on at home and help him get ahead. Now he's a little more than halfway through 1st grade and he is already at 3rd grade reading level! I am SO incredibly impressed with his progress and the way his teacher pushes him. She believes in him and he really believes in himself. His teacher knows how to teach him in a way that he understands and takes the time to help him if he needs it. Franklin is a great school I am very happy with it!

Teaching is lazy, never have we seen so much homework for a FIRST GRADER. I would love to say the teacher is doing a good job, but it is us at home every night working with our daughter to ensure she's actually learning something. There is zero parking lot control in the mornings and afternoons, and as a result of them not taking student, staff, and parent safety seriously- we have almost been hit crossing THE SIDEWALK. There is zero supervision, and the rude parents who drive in a 40mph down the residential street to pick up there kid before it's too late (because of their inadequate planning) are NEVER held responsible. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN, GET IT TOGETHER. DO NO let your kids leave the school's side of the sidewalk.

I have had 3 kids attend Franklin starting in Preschool. One is now in Middle school the other two still attend. I have been very impressed with Franklin. All the teacher we have had have been great (minus one, who no longer is teaching at the school). Every teacher has been more than willing to work with us if we had any issues. If our child was struggling, it was immediately brought to our attention and together our child improved. The new principal is great in working with the parents as well. Overall I would recommend ANYONE to go to Franklin. The kids are great the staff is wonderful. There is a lot of parent involvment as well!

Our experience with Franklin Elementary has been terrible. We had to enroll our child at Sylvan to make up for a full year of bad teaching. Every time we complained with the principal she was never around, or we got the run around by staff members. It was always frustrating dealing with his first grade teacher because her progress reports were always inconsistent. She should have been fired! This year we are changing schools.

My daughter will be done with her KG year at Franklin next month, and she can now read way above and beyond the KG level. They have taught the kids addition, subtraction, how to tell time, and have worked on their fine motor skills with cutting, pasting, drawing, coloring, painting, etc. My daughter got the chance to see caterpillars turn into butterflies, go on a field trip to an apple orchard, and have a traditional Thanksgiving meal with the entire KG. The disciplinary actions are clear and consistant, and the children know what is expected of them. The parent-teacher communication is great, and parents are kept informed as to what is going on in their child's classroom. The playground area is separated for those in KG, and they have access to tricycles, which is great for the children who live in the area (mainly apartments and small homes) who do not have the opportunity to practice learning to ride one. The principal is involved in the classrooms, and the teachers and staff are truly caring. Her teacher made the students in her class a memory scrapbook, which included artwork, writing, and photographs from throughout the year. Franklin Elementary exceeded my expectations.
