I have had my first experience with Broadmeadow Elementary. My oldest child of 3 will be leaving the school in the spring with a positive time spent there. I will say that the methods have not always made sense to me I.E the military style dining with total silence but he has enjoyed his school. I am interested to see how my middle child likes it next year. Overall it was a school that I am not worried about sending 2 more of my children to.

Broadmeadow School is located in Rantoul, IL and is part of Champaign County. The school serves grades 3-5. The school population is usually about 240-250 students. The staff are friendly, outgoing, and younger with most teachers having six years or less teaching experience. The school grounds were recently updated with geothermal heating/cooling, new efficiency lighting, a fresh paint job in all the classrooms, hallways and gym. The principal has been there several years and is approachable and the kids really seem to enjoy him. School asses students three times a year in math and reading using AIMSweb. Broadmeadow is a Title I school and has a reading specialist on sight along with a Title I reading aide. There is a Parent-Teacher Organization that meets monthly with the principal. The school could improve by raising state test scores as they have been below AYP for several years. However, the staff have been trying to address the issue and have even seen some of their scores going up.
