Valle Vista to us was a bare minimum school for us. Throughout our whole experience at VV, (even before covid) we were only invited to 1 singing performance. Never did I see my kids perform in any play or performance otherwise. It felt as if they did everything to the bare minimum and preferred not having families on campus. Never had a science project. Science is based on an online program, called Mystery Science and does not cater to those STEM driven students with many hands on bigger projects. My child was into STEM/Science/Art/Music and VV provides minimal support on these subjects. Music at this school consists of no musical instruments, only ukulele as of 2022. Most districts in the area, provide a variety of instruments for their 4/5th graders. It was also very disappointing on the lack of patriotism at this school. My child would tell me that they 'sometimes' do the pledge. Our neighboring district, promotes flag assemblies, assemblies dedicated to our veterans, have students help raise the flag, say the pledge on the intercom daily. This blew my mind when I realized how much the school was missing out on these important items. PTA seems to be held back on a lot of items due to the lack of principal wanting any events/programs on campus. Fall Festival is always so wonderful. (They will not however, allow any costumes or do any costume parade on campus during school hours- like other districts) Events have been very 'minimal'. I hope that family engagement changes in years to come. Unfortunately, it seems as if there is some favoritism with students and how disciplining works with each student. The compassion from the principal unfortunately was NOT there for our family. The social-emotional support wasn't there either. However, the teachers are absolutely amazing. I will say, we had the best teachers. Their compassion was always shown. Always had the best communication and did everything in their power to help students and my children succeed.

We love this school! Our daughter has had amazing teachers all 4 years we’ve attended. She is reading at 2 grade levels above hers and loves school. It’s all thanks to the great teachers we’ve had!I wish they did more special events like a farther daughter dance. All the other schools in our area do one.

My children went to Valle Vista K-5. Valle Vista was our "home" for 9 years (between the kids). We always felt safe. In the years change happened; teachers, principals, staff, rules/policies, etc. Change is always hard but it is part of life. As we leave Valle Vista we leave it knowing that it has the Best Staff In The World for the Best School In The World. From the caring and listening ear of all the teachers to the understanding of the new principal. The friendliness of the staff to the kindness and love from the counselor. Valle Vista is a small hidden home away from home for the kids in the Red Hill area. It is a community, a small family, not just a school.

My experience has been exceptional. My children have grown so much over the years, I am very happy with the teachers and staff.

Horrible principal who doesn’t seem personable and like she knows my kids. I can’t understand why if this is her first year at VV she would hire on a ton of parents/PTA members. My child’s IEP information should not be the topic of the roumor mill. The school used to be a very welcoming place for both students and parents that’s no longer the case. It seems there is clearly favoritism at the school.

10 out of 10. The calm atmosphere, supportive teachers, and various programs made this school a perfect match for my children.

My son has been as this school since kindergarten and is now going into 4th. He has had some issues with bullying and the teacher, counselor, and principal all stepped in to make sure the problem was taken care of and didn't affect his kind nature. He also had a speech issue, since kindergarten they followed it closely and in 2nd grade got him involved in speech which has greatly improved his problem. I was most impressed that they did this on their own without me having to push it. I have loved each and every one of his teachers and love that the school is small and tucked away in a beautiful part of the city.

This is a pretty good school. It's just beginning to seem a bit cold and militarized now. The nice vibe/charm Valle Vista had before is gone. The principal appears to be involved in everything because she cares, but is really just a control freak. The drop off and pick up situation has gotten worse. It went from 1 Procter and maybe 2 others assisting (and doing a great job) to what seems like 7, 8 now and it's taking longer than ever. Another thing, which I'm positive goes on at other schools as well, is the obvious favoritism towards certain students (and parents). Volunteer in class and you will see. Certain students can do no wrong, while others are constantly being scolded for any little thing. It's upsetting to see and really discouraging for those kids being picked at by teachers on a daily basis. (Don't always believe the teachers. Take the time to listen and believe your child.)

Nice school, small, no resources but teachers are great, they care about kids and help them to reach their personals goals, they know and understand that every kid is diferent and they are not robots that have to be sat and quiet like a piece of ice, they respect their own personalities.

I love this school and so does my son. The principal is amazing and very personable. She cares about this school and the kids that attend. The RSP and speech teacher are outstanding and have worked wonders with my son. His kindergarten teacher is one of the best around! I couldn't ask for better. This school goes above and beyond just academics, they want your kids to be successful in every way. THEY CARE!!!

I am revising my early review of this school after my reading other posts and my own personal dealings with the school. I have narrowed some problems down to a couple of individuals. The Principle seems to be one of them. My daughter is still in kindergarten after requesting her to be accelerated into first grade. I have found her teachers to be caring, interested, and involved with their students. I must have got on the principles "bad side" because she refuses to act even to the detriment to my child. Trying to remain optimistic. Would also like to note that the reason the Principle is in the parking lot in the morning is to direct traffic. The school district should really work to resolve that issue!

This school could be great...the teachers are great and the kids are great also. The principle is horrible!! Can not give the school the rating it deserves until she is gone....

This school is AMAZING...The teachers are AMAZING....The Principal is HORRIBLE....plain and simple...She either loves you or she hates you....if you get on her bad side....watch out! In the 6 years she has been here, she has gotten rid of program after program (oxygen run, GATE clubs, 4th grade program, trip to Sacramento, and just recently, awards ceremonies for the primary grades....just to name a few). And the parking lot is horrendous!

My boys love this school. The Principal is a gem and is in the parking lot mornings and afternoon, greeting the kids. She is also very hands on and appreciative of all her volunteers. The teachers are always available to the kids and parents.
