  My child spent a miserable year at Chaddock. The school may once have been well-regarded, but things have gone steadily downhill. The lovely campus and dorms conceal what is going on inside. The school purports to be attachment focused, but does not walk the talk. There is huge staff turnover and not enough staff to give the kids any sort of programming or prevent elopements or sex. The shiny new school building is a Potemkin village that conceals the total lack of education going on inside. My high school senior did not read a single book, take a single exam, or have a single subject-certified teacher in any class. The principal lied freely in every IEP meeting about what would be provided and my child received fake credits for classes that were never given. My child was denied the grade-level instruction requested in English and Math and was denied the SAT because the state only pays for juniors to take it and not seniors, even though my child hadn’t taken it. They proclaimed my child ready for graduation, but my straight A student at Chaddock could not pass a community college entrance exam. Further, the school, which purports to be Methodist and has a Methodist chaplain, is in large part staffed and run by evangelical Christians who believe that homosexuality is sinful, women cannot preach (and all the sex shaming that goes along with that viewpoint) and the kids are bad kids with bad parents whose only hope for forgiveness for their sins (which is how they view the behaviors) is Jesus. This does not exactly comport with a clinical attachment focus, and the principal demonstrated in his retirement speech and other statements that the school has no clue about attachment theory and no understanding of or interest in the kids and their families. The kids are coerced into to watching or attending the evangelical Christian services that are piped into the dorms every Sunday from The Crossing church, even though there are Methodist chapel services during the week. My child left with a complete disdain for Christianity, which was certainly not the case before attending Chaddock. ...More Reviews
