and I had to rush him in to the ER for stitches. Another instance was when a older child hit him in the head with a rock and I was NOT notified immediately!!!2. I had a lump some of money taken out of my daughters college fund account without my authorization. I am still trying to get ahold of Karen (owner) 20 days in...This really needs 0 stars.

My daughter have had behavioral problems for almost 15 months. We did not know what to do until we learn about someone was in a therapeutic school in the US in Provo Utah. It was a difficulty decision to send my 15 year old child but it was the best option for her and for the whole family. She has been at the DA for 7 months. She has had ups and downs but she is making progress. The staff is very friendly and really care for the children of the school. We are happy with the faculty and the therapeutical approach that includes the parents in a weekly session.

My son is 17 years old and has been at Discovery Academy for 8 months. Sending our child away was one of the hardest decisions that we have ever made. Looking back and seeing the progress that he has made has been unbelievable. We felt like we had no choice but to seek outside help and this has been a great decision. To be honest, he struggled for several months and it was very hard and we even contemplated bringing him home. My wife and I are so grateful that we trusted the process at DA which allowed my son the opportunity to open up to us, be respectful, and communicate with us. The therapy has been slow but steady. There have been so many ups and downs, but the progress has been steady. The therapists are amazing and everyone there is so caring. We have spoken to several other parents there, and they all have expressed there gratitude for DA and the outstanding care they provide. We have no regrets for sending our son there.

Our daughter has been at DA for several months. If you are a parent researching therapeutic boarding schools then this review is from someone who knows what a difficult time you are going through. DA has made a tremendous difference to our daughter. We have visited several times and repeatedly met with therapists, administration and school officials during the visits. I truly believe the people who work there care deeply about our children. You will find the process of recovery to be full of ups and downs but it is working for us and for that we are deeply grateful. If you are considering DA, ask the school to talk to some parents. You will find someone at the other end of the phone who knows what you are experiencing and who will offer their own honest answers to your questions.

Our son attended Discovery Academy for his sophmore year of high school. During middle school and freshman year he was on a declining path of increasing drug use, missing school, suicide attempts, but most importantly increasing problems with social anxiety. We had 4 years of counseling at Children's Hospital, which helped but was not sufficient. At DA he did extremely well in school and made big strides in facing his problems. He resisted of course, but over time came to acknowledge that he had work to do with his own life. He has been home for three years and is now a freshman in community college and doing well. The transition home was not magic, there was still lots to do, but both he and the family worked through it. Today he is 20 years old and agrees we did the right thing and he admits he would have gone down a much harder drug path. He is still a bit of a late bloomer, but is really a joy to be around and we are confident he will do fine. Sending him to DA was the hardest thing we have ever done but really glad we did it. The team at DA are very caring - teachers, counselors, residential staff. Sometimes the job is just more than parents can do.

At the time of this post, our son has been at DA for a little over 5 months. We have seen a tremendous change in him. He is doing well academically, mentally, emotionally and physically. Quite honestly, we were all at the end of our rope, so to speak. Our son as well. We reached the point where we didn't know how to help him anymore and he had given up all hope that he could be helped. We were nervous, as most parents are, about sending him so far away but the staff was very understanding and compassionate and helped to ease our fears. At intake, they put all our minds at ease about making this big step seem a little bit smaller. If you are considering DA as an option for your child, talk to them and consider making them a very serious option. We have not been disappointed and you won't be either. They have given us something that we haven't had in a very long time and that something is hope.

This school has been a life saver for my son. Great residential staff, superb therapy and 1x1 attention in class all have helped him cope with his anxieties, depression, drug use and ADHD. He is becoming a confident, happy and successful individual. AT Discovery, the focus is on repairing broken relationships and learning to function as a strong, supportive community. I can rest as sure he is in the best possible place to learn to live a healthy life!

It is so scary to send your child off to a boarding school- it was one of the hardest decisions we have had to make. Our son has been at DA for 5 months and we just had our first visit. He is already making remarkable progress both academically and theraputically and we are very pleased.

This school has turned out to be the ideal place for our 16 year old son. The therapeutic program helps students move through phases toward recovery. The academic program is great for kids with ADHD and ADD. We trust the staff at Discovery Academy to help our son regain his life.

My son was a student at Discovery Academy. The staff was very knowledgeable and consistent in their approach. The school takes a unique approach to eduction which benefited my son. They were able to motivate him to raise his GPA from 1.7 to 3.2 in less than one year and graduate early. I always felt secure in knowing that he was receiving great therapy and education. I always knew he was in a safe and secure environment. Discovery Academy has a program that that encourages learning and places the responsibility on the student.

Discovery Academy was a saving grace for us when our son was struggling with depression, suicidal thoughts, making poor life choices and generally spiraling downhill. They have supported him and us through therapy, education and medical support. Continuing his high school education while getting therapy and being in a safe environment has been the combination we needed.

Discovery Academy saved not only our daughter, the rest of the family too. Inside you can feel firendship, respect and a lot of knowledge, they are true professionals and they know exactly what to do in each situation. I cannot imagine another place in which my daughter could be safier.

Discovery Academy saved my son's life. He was headed to jail or death if we had not found these people. They are truly a gift from above sent to help our children. They are well fed, warm, loved by their therapists and counselors, understood, and accepted. The school works just fine and the kids have activities and therapy all day long. Lots of sports, lots of outside trips, always busy. We have visited four times now and our son has the biggest smile every time. The desire to get out is gone. The children or students are all troubled and all wonderful with a great chance for a happy life. The therapist and staff have helped us as well. They are always available at any time of any day. When our son first arrived, it was midnight, and the admissions director came back to work on a Friday night at midnight to make sure he felt welcomed and safe. We have never doubted their methods for a second. Everything makes sense and is carried out with great professionalism and caring. Discovery Academy represents the greatest best chance for your child to have a safe and happy life. I give the school my highest recommendation. I have no criticisms of any sort.

My son is still at Discovery Academy, he's been there almost five months. Last week was my first visit, and I can see that he is now more happier than before he came to DA, and starting to change. He still have long way to go, I hope he will get better and better.

Our son attended Discovery Academy for almost one year, after several months in a wilderness program. We feel that the teachers, administrators, therapists, and staff were very dedicated and effective. They tailored the program to his educational and developmental needs. The many groups offered were also helpful. His main complaint was the food quality.

I was a student at D.A. for 6 months 3 weeks and 8 days. I am so happy with where I am in life today, and without D.A. I wouldn't have lived to be who I now am. The staff were really great, and the teachers touched my heart like no other. You can't forget the therapists, the ones who mentor us most and help us find our way to the right road. Thank you D.A.!

My stay at Discovery Academy wasn't short; I was there for almost 14 months. When I 1st got there, I loved everything and i wanted to do everything. Then after a few months things got tougher. I was always in trouble and therapy was a nightmare. Through this hard time, i made really strong relationships with a few of my peers; male and female. I started to talk to everyone; my floor staff, my peers, my parents, my therapist, and people that worked in the front office. I just opened up and let my walls down. It was at that point that i made the most progess. Looking back at my stay at D.A., I can honestly say that it saved my life and gave me my family back. I wouldn't be the person that i am today without it. The thing that helped the most was the staff. They where always there for me to go to talk about anything. My therapist was amazing and he was able to help me get through a lot. Those together where the two things that I feel helped me the most.

I love all the different therapies that are available. The staff has been very helpful and understanding. Our son is much more engaged in school there and I contribute that to the support he gets from the teachers. I would like to see more counseling for the parents/family such as a parent support group.

Hey everyone. I was a former student at Discovery Academy. I was at DA for 18.5 months and it has literally changed my whole life. Before going to DA, i was severely depressed and just couldn't seem to get along with any of my family members. I felt like I didn't have a family, everyone kind of gave up on me, including myself. I was 14 years old when i first got to Discovery and I left a couple days before my 16 birthday. (great birthday present, huh?) I came to DA and everyone was absolutely amazing. they were all so caring and willing to welcome me into a whole new family. And that's exactly what DA was for me. It was my home, my family. They all helped me so much to know my own worth and value, and now look at me. I'm going home. That's something i would've never imagined myself saying. I got so close to everyone, including staff, the girls, and even people way up there in Discovery. It's amazing how one place can completely change your life, but only if you let it. Discovery Academy was my home for 18.5 months, and i will continue to call it home for the next however many years there is to come. I love everyone there, and i would recommend anyone to DA.
