The classroom teachers are likely ok, and doing the best they can with their working environment. An exception is the music teacher who is verbally abusive to the students. The school in general is unwelcoming to parents when compared to other schools in the area. There is very little communication about what happens within the school and it feels secretive and like parents are purposely being excluded. Direct attempts at communication with staff are often ignored. We are at about 50/50 with responses to our emails. Supports for neurodivergent students are nonexistent and staff will actively set up roadblocks to getting any formal accommodations in place (504 plan, IEP). They are very good at acting “nice” in meetings but our child’s self-esteem has tanked after less than a year here and we are seeking other options. If you have a child with special needs and you must use this school, be prepared with legal help.

Worst school I have seen. The staff has no empathy for the students. They make fun of kids and not fit to be teachers. We took out our kid in less than months and put him in another school..

Purposely filling classrooms to the max to save money. No after school programs and lack of communication from overworked teachers.

Issues with this school- 26 kids in Kindergarten Class last year; 2019-2020 this would be the 1st grade class. We moved and changed schools and now have 19. The Kindergarten class, they said was more full than expected. Some kids had fill in teachers for their first few weeks or so. Not good to do to young kids. Poor planning on the school's part. The Orientation for Kindergarten parents was ONLY about the Booster club to make money for the school. There was no information given about signing up for lunches, afterschool programs, school hours, quarterly grades, etc. No information sheet was given, except about the Booster club. There were no assigned seats in the Kindergarten class room. My daughter was confused where to sit most days and was usually nervous going into the class. Many teachers now use the handshake, hug, high five and greet each child into the class. This would not be possible at this school because before school students are in the gym and they stand in a line with the teacher in the front trying to keep control of all the kids. It's like a corral. Not sure why the teacher's are having to do work that can be done by some other staff. The way the front office is set up, anyone could walk into the school. There is a small area where you sign in and get a visitor badge, but no one is checking id or anything like that. Car Drop off in the morning was frustrating. Cars are trying to go straight, go right and go left into the school drop off zone. Some are running thru the crosswalk. Rarely ever a police presence monitoring speeding drivers and unsafe turns. The school is an older building. In need of some TLC. Would likely be best to rebuild it. What I liked- email communication was good. YMCA afterschool program was good with friendly people. For the most part, pick ups at the end of the day were fast and easy. Everyone is out in 10-15 minutes. The teacher met 1:1 and gave progress of the students.

First of all, signing up my kid for school, my wallet went missing in the office the dsy I signed him up. First red flag. I was already upset because we live a half mile from Orenco and we were directed to a school that is 2.1 miles from our home, makes absolutely no sense at all. Before winter break, my son's jacket went missing. Worst timing ever, I had to buy him a new coat because school was closed. I have called and left a message about the coat and nobody has said anything about it. I also put a note in my kid's backpack in the homework folder, and I guess they havent seen it yet, I would think they would want to check his homework folder at some point. My son told me his teacher grabbed the back of his jacket in his neck and hurt him, and they don't let him use the restroom when he needs to or get a drink during PE if he needs one. I am very alarmed and considering a transfer. I haven't felt this "care" in the environment at all. The principal did talk to my kid and the teacher about the neck incident, and my son says he feels safe. But between the missing things which really hurt us for awhile, and the treatment so far of my son by the teachers, I am concerned and feeling compelled to have to walk my son to a different school instead of let him go on the bus to Lenox due to my concerns. I really don't have time to be doing that but my child's safety comes first.

We've been very happy at Lenox! Small class sizes, happy enthusiastic teachers and involved parents all help to make this school special. Our daughter is very happy here!

This school is a great school! They have this thing called baker bucks or something and its a great way for my kids to earn money and actually earn it by helping around the school. My kids are actually happy to go to school, this is a environment that cares about the well being of all students and their education.

This school is great! The principal works long hours to ensure every kid has what they need. The booster club is full of great caring parents that are very fun and inviting. My children have every sweet teachers that really go the extra mile. And as if that wasn't enough the custodian is the coolest lady I have ever met and uses her own time and money to reward the kids who help in the cafeteria.

My kid joined Lenox in Sep 2013. It is a nice school which not only teaches it's students academics, but also values. Their motto Be Safe, Be Responsible, Be Respectable says it all! My kid enjoys going to school, likes his teacher and feel good about getting recognized when he does a good job with this neat little pride ticket system they have. The Principal is very dedicated and professional. They have some good after school programs. Also, Lenox is a drop off location for terracycle. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On a more personal note, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the gentleman for giving me his seat at the kids musical performance today!

Very disorganized. I did not recieve any papers on who the teacher was, or what the classroom number was. On the first day coming home from school the bus was 30 minutes late! When I called transportation to see where my daughter was, their excuse was that it was the first day and it's to be expected. 10 minutes late is, in my opinion, acceptable. Not 30 mminutes. The staff would much rather hang up on you than apologize.

Small neighborhood schools are the BEST. We thought about putting our children in a private school but after seeing all the programs they offer and the quality of the teachers and principal, why would we pay for something that is farther away and maybe not as good. We love Lenox and love that all of our children's friends live in the neighborhood and now can walk home with them. They offer Art Night, Science Fair, Carnival and numerous other great enrichment events. Very very happy with Lenox! Submitted by a parent
