My experience at this school has been great; everyone cares about the students and helps them improve their academic and social skills. There is differentiated support for the students and community events to develop the school community.

Sonoran Science Academy of Phoenix is perfect for students who have learning gaps or need a challenge. The teachers work with every student at their individual level to ensure that they learn all of the Core Common State Standards. They communicate with parents, often calling or emailing simply to give positive feedback. All teachers are trained to celebrate diversity, nurture the social-emotional needs of students, and foster an environment of respect for students and staff. The administration encourages group projects, hands-on science experiments, and active participation in the classroom. Students can pursue their academic interests instead of always sitting quietly for a lecture. Robotics, coding, science projects, writing contests, cultural dance performances, soccer teams, and club time during school are a number of ways that we support students interacting with our community. Staff and students at Sonoran Science Academy care about experiencing an authentic education, and it definitely shows.

SSA Phoenix has transformed I to a beautiful, caring environment for students. The new admin team is so invested and has created programs that were non-existent creating a well rounded student experience. They embrace culture and go out of their way to create community in a diverse population. So proud of this school.

I attended this school almost 5 years ago and only have great things to say about my experience. The school is very invested in the students learning and create an environment where children are confident in their learning abilities. There are a lot of opportunities for one-on-one time with teachers. Furthermore, the staff at the school are very caring and organized and always make sure to keep the families involved. Many of my cousins now attend this school and are enjoying their time there.

I attended this school as a student from 2014-2018 and loved the culture, teachers and staff and always felt supported! Now, I am giving working here as the community liaison and I absolutely love it. Forming relationships with parents and building this community into something better feels really fulfilling. From being a student and now a staff member, I can 100% say this place feels like home and I am so thankful to be a part of creating opportunities for our students.

I went here for 5+ years and after graduating from here and upon entering college, I was no where near prepared. I 100% would have been better off at a regular public high school academic-wise and extra-curricular wise. I felt very disadvantaged once I entered university-level coursework and it always felt like I was playing catch-up to my peers. None of the courses at SSA PHX prepared me at all for college. Besides well-meaning teachers and staff, the only other pro I can think of is the special-ed and ESL teachers who I visibly saw actively going above and beyond for their students.... this school may be a good option in that case.

Very poor experience at this school, the few good staff members are wonderful, but they lack those. I don't even want to start with the crazy parking lot problems just trying to pick up your kid!

SSA-Phoenix is a terrific charter school, offering parents a public option to all the school choices in Phoenix. The parent community is outstanding - very engaged students. Teachers are experienced energetic and engaged as well. The class sizes are one of a few reasons I picked Sonoran Science Academy Phoenix. The leadership is very strong. Submitted by a parent

Sonoran Science Academy - Phoenix is an outstanding school with a golden heart. Many of the teachers there are dedicated to the students and families and have been at this school for over 5 years. Alumni are active in the school, they donate their time to the award winning Robotics and Lego clubs. It may not be the fanciest looking school but it's heart is made of gold!

The teachers in this school know what they are doing. Students always engaged with science-math and technology. The school offers computer science class to all grades K-12. This is unbelievable. Your kids begin to learn computer in kindergarten. The school, especially SSA-PHX has multicultural student structure. There are students from Somalia, Ethiopia, Russia and many other countries that I can't remember right now. I strongly recommend to visit the school to see the difference from other school once.

This school has a huge multicultural community in a low demographic area. Each teacher is highly qualified and has compassion for this school. Although we are a Title 1 School and do not have many supplemental resources, everyone tries their hardest and works best with what they have. The Common Core Curriculum is used and each student is learning to their highest potential.

I have two kids in this school. The teachers are very supportive and provide the right balance between education and play. I found the teaching very good and to a high standard. The special educational needs department has a specially equipped with many materials. This is a mixed school and is very multi cultural and you are able to lean a lot about the different cultures and faiths in here in the US which allows kids to get a broader and more open minded view of kids and other peoples faith and cultures. Great School, Great Teachers with High Standards of Education.

I have known this school for two years and school is just doing great job. There is a diversity of students and teachers are so patient and dedicated to educate. I love the vision of the school which is STEM focused education. I feel lucky that we have this type of school in our neighborhood..

This is THE worst school I have ever seen. My 5 year old is not Muslim or Middle Eastern so she was made to feel like an outsider. She was YELLED AT by some inept teacher on the second day of school and was terrified to go back. The administration blamed MY CHILD for this, saying she was too immature to be in their school! The school called me and told me that I have to come get her immediately, and we had to withdraw her after only 4 days because of the teacher s inability and unwillingness to help out with the traumatic experience my daughter had there. They ate lunch outside where it's 112 degrees outside! There's supposed to be a school uniform, unless you're Muslim, and then I guess you can wear whatever you want (the girls' robes cover everything). The best thing I EVER did was pull my daughter out of there!!! I ve never seen so much incompetence in one school, and that was the adults ! (I use that term loosely) SSA I hope you read this, as I'm sure you know who my daughter was. FYI she is now doing AWESOME in her new school!!
