My daughter has been at Mizzentop since kindergarten and it has been a great experience. The classes are small and the entire staff is warm and welcoming. It really is a family. She’s getting a lot of individualized attention and actually looks forward to school on Mondays. I strongly recommend it to anyone who wants a really supportive environment for their children.

Mizzentop Day School is by far one of the most elite schools in New York State. The dedication that the teachers have displays an exceptional deal of compassion. Mizzentop make sure they develop a sense of confidence and leadership in each child. This school has all the attributes that shows it is one of the best schools around.

This school is such a special place! I have 4 children there and have been there for 8 years. Each and every teacher and staff care about each student so deeply. My children feel so loved there and are excited to go to school every day! The education they are receiving there is un-matched. If you are thinking about a private school, you need to tour here!Although not a religious school, they teach the living values curriculum- which I love!

We are impressed on how they have met the challenge of COVID-19 and excelled on how to engage our children while keeping the safe and healthy. The feeling of excitement to educate from the staff is palpable which extends right down to the students. I cannot say enough about how great our experience with Mizzentop Day school has been for us. Our teacher this year has created a learning experience our child will remember for a lifetime. The many individual subject teachers have also exceeded our expectations. In our last school our child was considered disruptive and now he is excelling with above grade work. He continues to progress ahead because of his thirst for knowledge and not be held back of guidelines.

We are new to the school this year and are so happy we made the switch for our son. The entire staff is welcoming and attentive. There is a wonderful community atmosphere. Our son is excited to go to school and is showing huge improvements in his academics after only a few weeks. We highly recommend Mizzentop.

This is an amazing school! The teachers are wonderful, the class sizes are small. Children beg to go to the aftercare program and the sports programs. Everyone feels included. There are fun community events, the holiday programs are top-notch, the chef makes amazing lunches from scratch (!). We feel like the learning and teachers are unparalleled in the area.

As of Fall 2014 Head of School is Laura Kang, not Steve Cash.Had 3 kids attend this school grades 1-8. All graduated to go on to top private boarding schools and were ahead in all subjects academically, except English, including a grade ahead in Math. I wish they had done a little more writing because they could have handled a little more challenge in this area (although they were not behind in English by any means upon graduating)....but I have heard that this area has been improved and kids are now doing more writing. Kids graduate from this school to go on to private day and boarding schools, parochial schools, and public high schools. From what I hear from other parents, they are all ahead academically no matter where they go. Kids have been accepted, upon graduating Mizzentop, to Hotchkiss, Taft, Kent, Loomis Chaffee, Berkshire, Deerfield, Westover and other top boarding schools. Classrooms are very interactive and there is a lot of participation and class discussion. Was very happy, no complaints after all those years. Atmosphere is pleasant. Teachers really want to be there and they love children. Classes and school are small so entire staff will know your child well. Bullying does not exist. There are no clicks. Kids all get along like cousins. If you are reluctant to visit this school because it is quite small and modest, don't be! It is really a great alternative to the larger private schools in the area like Dutchess Day. Mizzentop is based on 12 living values and they are ingrained in the curriculum. When I walk down the hallway every child smiles and says "Hello Mrs. X". Kids start doing oral presentations as soon as they can read. My kids all did at least 5-6 oral presentations a year including Power Point and presenting research. By the time they got to high school and had to do an oral presentation it was a walk in the park. One of my kids did their first presentation as a freshman in high school and was told by her teacher that it was the best presentation she had ever seen. No regrets with Mizzentop. Go visit the school!

Mizzentop Day School is a small, but interactive community. No one gets left out or picked on. There are many after school activities to participate in and a number of different sports each seasons. The new theater program called MIST enables students to experience the spotlight or the magic behind the scenes that makes a play or musical come to life. I have been there since pre-school and I am nearing the end of my journey. Come check out our school!

Great school. Small class size really gives makes a difference. Kids are all greeted by name and everyone knows everyone else. The little kids even know the older kids in school. If the school were a bit more allergy friendly, that would boost them to 5 's. Just that in this day and age, with all the food allergy around, putting allergy kids at their own table is a bit pass . Other than that, great academics and atmosphere.
