My daughter went here for Kindergarten and First grade and absolutely loved it. We recently moved out of state and are finding that she's not thriving as she was at Ophir. She doesn't like her teachers she doesn't have a good relationship with the authority figures like she did at Ophir. The principal at Ophir is extremely involved with her students and their families and I feel that makes a huge difference. Makes the children feel safe and important. The school knew the importance of homework but also the importance of time with Family and did an awesome job of combining the two so the kids still learn while getting to spend time with their families. Our new school has an unhealthy policy of no homework due to wanting children to spend time with their families instead. Causing scores to go down. We miss Ophir and truly enjoyed our time at the school.

Considering the couple hours your child will spend on a tablet playing games, then they get classwork that their teacher doesn't even do with them. The teachers spend their time on facebook, pinterest, instagram, editing amateur videos they post on youtube. Any and every learning technique you as a parent have learned, they throw completely out the window. No more homework, rarely any class work, (so you can't see anything they're learning.) The school is using i-ready unsupervised. Your student logs on and is left with whatever questions the software wants answered. They're timed so your child won't ever get the proper amount of time to ask a teacher for help and then complete the problem. This is a failing system.

So far my child has had a wonderful experience at this school. The staff is all very welcoming and kind, and it’s great to see a principle proud of the school and teachers. My child loves her teacher, and feels happy and safe. It really is a great school.

I am a Critical Care Nurse and got my initial education at Butte college RN program. I am not a welfare recipiant not do I have any criminal record. My childrens experience are as follows. My daughter in the 4th grade was not allowed to use the bathroom and made to stand in the back of the class. My daughter pooped her pants in class. The principal refused to receive the complaint even though just 1 week later a teacher was publicly fired in Sacramento. On my son's 11th birthday he took cupcakes to school. I was standing in the parking lot to pick him up. As my son exited the cross walk he handed a friend a cup cake. The teacher begins to yell at him he replies it's my birthday and she screams "SHUT UP". I'm still calm as I'm walking up I say that is uncalled for and ask to speak to the principal..... He never showed up. I tried to talk to him later he calmy said I know who you are and I'll have you arrested if I "start problems again" he never took the complain. I tried to file a complaint at the district I was told that this never happened..... I WAS THERE. I moved out of Oroville. Yes this is the best elementary in Oroville but as schools go they are not very good.

My children and grandchildren have all attended Ophir School and have received an excellent start to their school career. Several of them have gone on to be Honor Students in high school and have received engineering and advanced college degrees and one has gone on to become a senior computer engineer with Apple. I am hoping that my remaining pre-school grandchildren will be able to attend Ophir, and would recommend this school to anyone.
