My son’s academic growth has been excellent here but as we are here for longer I’m starting to see personally and hear from others about some negative experiences. In first grade I literally never received a positive comment regarding my son but got short negative comments home frequently. It wasn’t until I reached out for a conference that I told how much he was excelling and that his behaviors were actually not that bad. From what I was told in these notes I would have thought he was disrupting class constantly. He had started thinking of himself as a bad kid, even though I had never received any negative comments on his behavior previously. I’ve also seen and spoke with other parents about negative behavior from some teachers - including yelling, bullying or belittling comments. Shenandoah has many wonderful attributes including many great teachers and offerings with extended day program, as well as teachers who go above and beyond to create amazing afterschool events and opportunities for the kids. The SRO knows every child by name and I have no concerns about my child’s safety. It’s just that my view has become less glowing as I see more of the daily behaviors of some teachers.

In my experience, All the staff are willing to help you with questions, never trying to avoid you , Very organized school in the morning and evening ! The ESE team program is great , they have a lot help , the ESE kindergarten teacher is an excellent teacher Ms Campos! I’m so grateful for them.

They have an Exceptional Student Educational team for the students that need them. The last school grade was an "A" from the year 2018-2019. They have been doing a good job with the students. The parents should find a series of books for their student to read during the summer. Let them create some artwork to go with it. Also, review all the math that they learned for the year so they are ready when the next school year starts. You will be happy!

Pass this school right along! Shady administrative staff that actively protects male teachers that act inappropriately with students and refuses to take parent concerns seriously. Shenandoah will not notfiy parents of an OCPS and DCF investigation and allowed this teacher back to school. Beware! If you express any concerns the administrative staff will treat you like a pariah and nuisance. Shenandoah and OCPS care more about their unfit staff and reputation than your kids!

Daughter started in kindergarten and the school seemed to be great in the beginning but I have noticed the teachers are not as dedicated in making an effort to assist their students in reaching their goals. It takes a lot of dedication and patience to educate a classroom full of kids. Most importantly when a child requests help from her teacher she should be able to obtain assistance from the teacher. Some teachers get irritated here when asked many questions. We must ask be able to ask questions in order to gain knowledge!

My daughter attends Shenandoah. It truly is a wonderful school with the children as they're first and main priority. This year has been difficult for my family and we have moved 3 times this year so far. However, the office staff and teacher's are extremely supportive and work hard to make sure my daughter has a sense of stability at least while she's at school. I can't thank them enough. I will be looking for a more permanent residence in the belle isle area just so my daughter could stay at this school.

This school has exceeded our expectations. The current principal, Mr McCloe, is responsive and enthusiastic, and he seems driven to keep improving. The accelerated reader program has been a perfect fit for our child. We are happy with the teachers and the after-care program. The art teacher and music teachers are superstars.

I would have agreed with all the positive feedback until this year. It seems that parent involvement is way down. The reason for this could be that some teachers actually blow off parent's participation. Concerned parents, who are truly involved with their children, are ostracized. If you question the way an incident is handled (or not handled) in school, you are labeled a difficult parent. If you continue to want the best for your child, you become a problem. It would appear that some children are more precious than others and deserve a higher level of "equality". They are all SPECIAL!! Not just the ones with special circumstances and no child should be made to feel that they don't matter .
