I am a student who currently goes to Jerling junior high and let's just say my years at this school have been bad. Staff have been treating students at the school horribly and not fairly. They will judge you by your past and by your race of your skin. When you need help or support do not go to staff or the school, they will take it the wrong way and take it not very seriously. Couple months back this staff member was basically going off at the kid for apparently stepping on her shoes, even though the kid didn't step on her shoe. The teacher said she was going to report the kid to the police which is just wrong and treated unprofessionally. After that the teacher start gossiping to other staff at the school acting like a crazy person that really needs help. The teacher also to believe it or not pulled a kid by the hoodie and chocked him. When this got reported nothing happened to the teacher or anyone, it was just like nothing happened. I am suffering there right now, they do not put me in my classes that I actually need, which is unfair. They use my past against me and its really hurting me in different ways. So, if I recommend this please don't choose this school if a parent is reading this. Worst school ever.

Disappointing school. Some great teachers, most are the complete opposite.

I am a student at Jerling going into 7th and I already feel as if I am going to hate this year. Most of the older teachers are rude and just want to retire, and they obviously always have favorites. They don't try to hide any of this. Although, the younger teachers are very nice, respectful, and genuinely want to see you make progress throughout the school year. I also feel like the P.E. classes are absurd, because the teachers usually set the standards way too high for some students. It also is very stressful when seeing your schedule because just knowing you have a rude teacher can ruin your whole year. Some of the teachers are very disrespectful, and get angry when students use the same energy towards them. Some teachers also limit bathroom use, which I think is very unfair to students who actually have to use the bathroom. They also let lots of disruptive things happen, like students arguing, students skipping class, or being rude to others. My friend was bullied for basically a whole quarter of the school year and the teacher didn't even bat an eye. She mostly ignored what happened until my friend told the social worker. Keep in mind, the bullying was not a one-on-one type of thing. The bully would make fun of my friend in front of the whole class and get the class to join in because they knew people didn't like her. I am writing this review to save other students from going to this school.

I was a student here last year, and the 3 years I was there were completely horrible. The kids there (specifically the "popular boys and pretty girls") were so mean and bullied anyone who weren't popular. The gym teachers made me feel very insecure because they forced me to do more than the other kids because I wasn't as athletic. My academic classes contained much ruder kids than the honors classes I had. Lots of sudents there are racist, sexist, transphobic, homophobic, or just straight up rude. I would come home in tears because of the kids there. My mental health depleted from the 1st few weeks of 6th grade to near the end of 8th grade. I also never really felt completely safe there. Some teachers and substitute teachers were just plain rude and didn't know how to teach. It was as if they were there for a paycheck. I learned very little there, and it didn't prepare me for high school whatsoever. In some cases, we would be forced out of our comfort zone by peer pressure or just to fit in. There has also been multiple fight breakouts in the hallways or outside. Would not recommend at all. I never want to go back there again because of how horrible my experience was.

Ever since the old principal left this school, this school has gone horribly downhill. School did not adequtely prepare any of its students for highschool- there was a huge drop in grades in students between 8th grade and freshman year because the teachers did not teach well or prepare us for the harder work that was coming in highschool, and were more concerned about ridiculous rules instead of actually teaching. A large majority of the teachers did not seem to like their jobs at all, or enjoy teaching students. I witnessed atleast one teacher every year here basically have a mental breakdown in the middle of class. Students aren't well respected by their teachers here and I've had teachers here roll their eyes at me when I've talked to them. (EVEN THE PRINICIPAL) In my experience here, some teachers at this school will make it blatantly obvious that they pick favorites, and treat students differently because of that. If I could give this school half a star I would, everyday I would dread having to go to school and I'm so glad I graduated.

There are few teachers who are rude, disrespectful towards good kids at Jerling middle school . Our neighbors were telling us stories about Jerling mean teachers . I didn’t believe it….. I thought it must have been bad kids. ..but now I have facts. Few teachers always full of mean attitude Why???. Maybe they shouldn’t be teaching then ? Kids have their parents . I am writing this review because school just started . I don’t want the middle school be like a nightmare for my child. Principal is excellent. But if I would be rich , my kids would never step in this school .

As a former alum I hated the school. The teachers seemed like they were only there for a paycheck, and at least when I went there all of the teachers were old and didn’t want to teach. I don’t know if the new teachers are any better. The PE program was horrible, I was a fairly active kid but they would make other, not as athletic students do the same. The sports were horrible except for track and field, I knew some really good people at sports and they were denied do to them quote unquote “needing to practice more” and later went to be a top 50 player in the state. Would not recommend this school.

The school athletics/pe are ridiculous in this school. There's are kids like my daughter that are non athletic and gets teachers that are vigorous with there teaching. When she has to run the mile every day she kept coming in tears because that they except more than the child can actually do. I think that the school should consider putting students in the right pe classes matched up to there abilities of the child. I also recommend get some new teachers because the older teachers are tired of working there and the students can tell what teacher wants to retire from that school. Be more fair to students cause what I said did not sound fair to me and my child.

I would not recommend this school. The new principle and assistant principal are vast improvements, but they have way too many old teachers who seem like they hate teaching or are just there to get a pay check (learned this through parent teacher conferences and my students telling). The young teachers seem amazing, but not too many.

I am so upset with this school athletics. They should give the kids a chance. My son who is very athletic has tried out for 3 sports. One which he is very good at!! Didn’t make call backs for them. So much for boosting kids moral!!!!!!! Should really consider changing policy’s

My husband and I feels fortunately that our son attends a school that employs teachers, staff, principal and assistance principal that attend school daily not just to get a paycheck. Instead. They stribe to produce great teachers, doctors, lawyers, judges, president the list goes on and on.Guess what? The students get it!

Parents should know that if you have a typical learner they can do well at Jerling. There are some great teachers here(about half) but there are also too many inadequate and unmotivated teachers that don't seem to enjoy teaching. They do little to inspire young minds and if you have a student that struggles in any capacity they will have a hard time. Generally speaking, the newer teachers are better. Bullying is a problem and little is done to deter it or protect victims.
