Oysterponds is a great little school that fosters learning in their Pre-K through sixth grade students. Teacher student ratio is small and they meet the needs of individual students. Overall we have had a great experience with the school and the learning environment it provides.

It is a horrible school. Most of the teachers do an awful job. I know that the quality of education is near nonexistent. I never truly learned much from the teachers. There is also the issue with the teachers themselves, especially when it comes to favoritism. One teacher had given me a bad grade over what she considered to be something that she “didn’t understand”, even though there was absolutely nothing wrong with my work.In addition to this, there is no proper program for advanced students. All they have is an ambiguously titled “Enrichment Learning” program that they consider to be “advanced studies”, but in reality, there is nothing remotely advanced about it.To put it simply, I would give this school zero stars if I could. It has caused me nothing but problems.

On 2011 state ELA and math scores Oysterponds is at least ten points ahead of every other elementary school on the North Fork making it without a doubt the best elementary school. Small class sizes (average 12 students), dedicated teachers and most recent Supt. have led to great improvements.
