We moved out of this district specifically because of the terrible experience our kids had at this school. The community is not friendly. Few of the parents seem to enjoy their lives or want to be friends with other families. There is a lot of bullying and the staff doesn't do anything about it. They blame the children for not reporting it sooner and then look the other way. Kids are afraid to report bullying because the only consequence of reporting it is getting picked on further. Most of all, our kids did not learn very much at this school. It was a huge disappointment. Our kids have learned so much more and are so much happier at their new school in the SF Bay area.

I was so excited when my kid started going here, but after two years at this school, I've seen many things that I don't like. The first thing I don't like about the school, is the teachers. Some of them are very rude to the kids and they don't want to deal with bullying. I've volunteered many times in my child's class and have seen the teacher tell the kids, "Go deal with it yourself, my friend. I don't have time for that." Sometimes they don't want to listen first and then decide if they need to interfere or not.Second, the office staff is not friendly at all. They don't welcome you when you enter the office, don't ask if you need help, and if you call the office, they answer you rudely and hang up the phone before you can finish talking.Third, the bathrooms are filthy. They don't clean them very often, and sometimes they run out of toilet paper or paper towels.Fourth, they do money raisers at least twice a year. They say it's for the playground, field trips, and other school needs, but I haven't seen any improvements in the playground. Sometimes, for the field trip, parents need to drive the kids.I wish they would care more about the kids' education and school improvement.

You do not realize how poorly this school is ran until you move your child. My child, at the new school is thriving. Oakview did not meet the district educational marks. I had my child tested and the teacher at current school did not understand how my child had those high scored grades at oakview. Luckily my child is now above grade level due to teachers that focus on all students as an individual not just a class that they leave at the end of the day as Oakview does. Oakview does not focus on Math , English, Science to prepare students for Middle School. This school has teachers with their own children at the school , including the principals children which all receive favoritism. In the past 5 years all money that was raised did not improve the safety or well being of any student. Parking at oakview is a chaos, students bully & fight alot. Teachers talk about each other poorly.

The principal is a joke. My child wasa student here and was being picked on and the yard duties wouldn’t doing anything. I reached out to the principal and she is no help. She acts engaged and sweet to the parents until there is a problem you address with her. The other reviewer was correct about hiring teachers based on who they knew. The principal supports only some teachers. I know this because I worked there and heard lots of favoritism. There are great teachers there without the support from the principal and it’s unfortunate they aren’t supported.

This is a Great School. It saddens me to see the reviews about it being so cliquey. I have two children currently enrolled here and have been involved with the school for over 18 years with nieces and nephews. This school has a solid small group of parents involved in the PTC that work side by side with the staff to make everything happen. It concerns me that people may perceive this as a closed group of people that don't want or need other parent’s involvement when that is entirely not the case. Like all of our schools in the district, the budget is stripped down giving the Principle little to work with. It is because of this group of people that the school is able to afford things like teacher’s aides, crossing guards, yard duties, and reading programs. This group of people, that are unfortunately getting labeled cliquey, put together fundraisers throughout the year that raise over $15,000. This money all gets donated back to the school to fund things like I listed. I understand that most parents work full time making it hard to get involved and I totally get that, but for those that have time to donate to help we welcome you with open arms. (We have some of our meetings at 6 pm to accommodate working parents) I am sure it may be tough to walk into a PTC meeting where everyone already knows everyone, but don’t mistake that for you not being welcome and I apologize if anyone has felt that way. Like any social situation walking into a group of people that have been working together on these fundraisers for years may be intimidating, but trust me we can use all the help parents are willing to give. We are all in this for one common goal which is to give out children the best elementary school education and experience as possible and that takes the support of everyone involve. Unlike the other reviews, I encourage you to contact me and the school directly so I can share my experiences with you. My name is Greg and I am the PTC Vice President and the office has my contact info. I hope that you consider our community for your children.

This is my childs second year at Oakview. I'm sad to say that I am beginning to hate this school. The pick drop off and pick up situation is hellacious! The staff and parents are cliquey. The principal is not receptive to your concerns. They hire people based on who you know not what you know. I'm currently trying to transfer out of the school. Avoid if possible!

The new Principle is FANTASTIC! She is making so many improvements! They have choir, band and dance now! If I've ever had any concerns for my child it has nothing to do with the staff but with some of the students, which you have anywhere. The teachers truly care about all their students and go the extra mile to help each and everyone of them. Their PTC is also amazing and provide so many extra activities for their students. We are very happy at Oakview!

Just average. Nothing special. It's not the best school, but it's also not the worst school so that's good.

My daughter is in kindergarten at Oakview and we love it. I couldn't ask for a better teacher. Mrs. Sam is the best!

We love Oakview! The staff is absolutely amazing. We came from a school that was the complete opposite. My Son was afraid to go to school due the the teacher yelling all of the time. My Son is now completely comfortable going to school and looks forward to being there! Thank you Oakview!

We have so far been impressed by the close community at Oakview and are looking forward to participate in it. We have heard so much wonderful praise about Mrs Sam and are grateful our child has her this year for Kindergarten. I am impressed that Mrs Rabe gets many of the kids walking/exercising around the back playground prior to the first bell.

My daughter has really grown to love this school. We originally had her in Oakview because we were in the assigned boundries, but with a change in boundries the second year, we opted to stay in due to the community there. Like many parents there, I am actively involved in the school functions, and feel I have a voice in the direction the school takes. The Principal and teaching staff all embrace progressive learning, and technology is a foundation at every level. The class sizes seem to be manageable, and the parental involvement can really be felt at the classroom level. The PTC is very active and funds many of the enrichment activities offered throughout the year.

My daughter loves this school! She just started attending it this year and everyone was very welcoming. Unfortunately she can only stay for this year because the curriculum only goes to 5th grade. This school was a breath of fresh air compared to the open enrollment school she attended before. The principal at this school is outstanding and the teachers really care about their students.
