My son has been attending Ottoman since Kindergarten, and will have his last year as a 5th grader here soon. Due to the area we lived, this was the school he was assigned to, in which I learned about the artful learning program. As a single parent, and also diagnosed with ADHD as a child - the artful learning program is so supportive of children at this young age to really grow their curiosity, creativity, and confidence. The level of support from the teachers, principals and staff has been outstanding! They truly understand and protect children’s educational needs as a whole and even at an individual level. Ottoman is so supportive, communicative and caring - without the politics! They truly put children’s needs first, even when behavioral issues arise, they work from a perspective of emotional intelligence - understanding that the child needs to receive more support versus disciplinary actions that can derail and set a child back. The teachers communicate with the parents well, while the principal is very active and is willing to offer personalized support to parents and children who express the need. Ottoman is also willing to work with both parent and child on their individual needs, even when my child expressed anxiety being in a higher reading group - we were able to make the change to build up his confidence and place him in a different group where he felt more comfortable. Further, the Bridges Afterschool on site program is the most amazing place with excellent staff that helps your child with homework, physical activity, games, meals and fun activities. As a working parent the support has been phenomenal, and I am proud that my child has the opportunity to attend this amazing school with a unique learning program, staff, and a principal that truly cares

I was hesitant about this school because of the scores, but was absolutely blown away by how wonderful every staff member was. My children were overflowed into Ottomon because the school they were supposed to attend was at their maximum. The teachers were so great and caring! They recognized my children’s strength and always focused on the positives. They never made me feel pressured if my children were struggling in a certain subject (which I had experienced at other schools). The principal and other helpers were also so personable. Also, the kindergartners get to have a music day every Friday. They make it so enjoyable for the kids to come to school.

This campus is excellent! Both my kids attend this school and ushered in the new Artful Learning curriculum. Imagine walking onto a campus where staff , Admin, and PTA are working TOGETHER better your child's educational experience? The staff here BELIEVE in this curriculum and are HAPPY. The kids enjoy the school. Imagine as a parent the joy in many plays and talent shows, poetry readings, band performances, and choir during the year to showcase your child's creativity. I have seen both my kids who are shy, come out of their shells. In one year my son jumped 3 grade levels in Reading and 2 in Math with Artful Learning. This school DESERVES a visit and if you really want a truly great, MEANINGFUL and memorable education for your child, this is your school.

My child just started going to this school in January 2010. She loved her other school and I was worried about her adapting.. Ottomon has actually made her blossom to an even greater student and LOVE school even more than she already did. The whole staff works together as a TEAM and will start her third child there in the 2010-2011 school year and look forward to both of their success.
