I am an alumni of SPSL and I am proud to send my children to the school. They receive a quality education and enjoy some of the many clubs and activities the school provides.

I have had two children go through SPSL, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience! My oldest is now in high school, and my youngest is in 7th grade. The school has done an excellent job preparing them for the next step in their education. The teachers and administrators are truly outstanding—dedicated, approachable, and supportive. The school fosters a welcoming community, and the kids are friendly and kind. One of the highlights is the advanced math and English classes, which allow students to learn at their own pace and challenge themselves academically. For 7th and 8th graders, the electives are fantastic, providing a variety of options that let students explore their interests. This school is a wonderful place for children to grow and thrive both academically and socially. I highly recommend it!

We chose to send our two boys to SPSL from Pre-K to 8th and could not be happier with the decision. It was an excellent investment all around! As non-Catholics, we were unsure if SPSL would be a good fit but finding a challenging academic program with a focus on diversity and service to others was important in our decision. We toured five other schools in the Midtown area. We immediately felt welcome and comfortable in the culture of SPSL. They say “Everyone is Welcome!” and you can feel the sincerity in halls and classrooms.

We couldn't be happier with SPSL for our children (who are quite different in terms of abilities and interests)!

The community this school has to offer is unmatched. Everyone belongs here. I appreciate the diversity at SPSL in all aspects: socioeconomic, racial, religious, learning abilities, etc. The school takes care of all the kids while they are at school and offers a supportive, inclusive community outside of school. My children are exposed to different cultures and ways of living all while being taught about the beauty diversity brings. As a parent, there are so many ways that I am able to get involved and contribute to the school. I love coaching and being around the kids when I volunteer. As an alum, I am still in contact with many classmates from SPSL. Overall, we have all taken away the same thing from our time at SPSL "love your neighbor."

We have had two children attend SPSL and have never regretted our decision. It prepares children for a rigorous college preparatory high school curriculum and does so in a safe, loving, and supportive environment. In addition to strong academics, I’ve been especially impressed with their commitment to inclusivity and diversity. All are welcome! The community at SPSL is second to none. I would highly recommend SPSL to other families!--Katie Risch Bakhit, current parent

This is an absolutely wonderful school! We have had all 5 of our children attend this school. The faculty and staff go out of their way to see that children are thriving and succeeding. The extra help and resources are phenomenal. It is a school that looks at the individuality of your child and creates a world of success and accomplishment! We will be forever grateful to the dedication of all of the teachers who helped our children become who they are today.

St. Pius X / St. Leo School is a welcoming school community. We like the small class sizes, loving teachers, and diversity in the student body. Students are challenged academically while also having supports if they are needed. Families are engaged and feel supported by the school.

I have nothing but great things to say about SPSL. My kids started at SPSL in 2011 and we are still going strong. We had to relocate to California for 2 years, and when we returned I re-enrolled them at St Pius X/St. Leo School. I was excited to hear that they were starting a Special Education Program with Madonna when we returned in 2019. My son is a part of the program and I can't say enough good things about the teachers, administrators, and staff at SPSL. I highly recommend this school to everyone!

SPSL offers a unique community experience of safety, fun, inclusiveness and closeness. It is more than a school to our family.

We have had kids at Saint Pius / Saint Leo ranging from K-8th grade. We used to be in Public Schools, but elected to make a change to have a safer more ready-to-learn environment. Diversity in ethnicity, socio-economic status, and more was very important to us. Being in a loving accepting community with kind students, teachers and families was also a priority. Finally we wanted a school that was well resourced with lots of clubs and resources for the arts. After careful exploring we landed at here at Saint Pius Saint Leo (SPSL) and couldn’t be happier! It checked every box.SPSL is a diverse community in every way which was very important to us. Students are ready to learn and teachers are eager to engage with the kids. They incorporate literature and concepts that create well-rounded thinkers and stewards to our world. I enjoy that my kids wear uniforms - it is one less distraction for them since they don’t have to worry about clothes or fitting in with the trends. SPSL offers tons of clubs and activities from Theater and Speech to athletic programs that span each season of the year. Having faith in education at SPSL has been more than memorizing prayers or books of the Bible - it has been about service and faith in action, lessons of love and human dignity. I’m soThankful we made the change to SPSL with our older kids and that our younger ones will have the full experience as well. I couldn’t ask for a better community of teachers, staff, parents, students, etc. I’m appreciative that the school encourages parent involvement and volunteering, has family activities and is more than a school - it’s a community - for our family.

My daughter has attended SPSL for four years now. She absolutely loves the school and the staff. Her teachers are a great encouragement and the academic program is great. SPSL integrates compassion into their teaching standards, emphasizes the importance of values, and builds leaders through each of their classes and lessons.

We have been more than impressed with the academics, family engagement, and community at St. Pius! The teachers and staff are always welcoming and supportive of all the students successes. There are a wide variety of after school sports and programs available as well! The administration is top notch!

We love our SPSL community! We are thrilled to be part of a diverse community that has all the tools and resources to provide an excellent education for all students. The services it provides with two counselors shows firsthand the care they have for the mental and emotional well-being of students. It is a very special place!

We love this school. I am so happy we found SPSL and our decision to transfer her here. She has blossomed. A school where love is at the forefront of learning.

My husband and I sent our kids there for K thru fourth grade. Our kids are twins and they were always in different classrooms, so it was interesting to see how their teachers compared. Anyone who tells you Catholic school teachers are all wonderful because they do it for the love of teaching, not the pay, is so very wrong. In our case we were able to directly compare the quality of teaching between teachers of a given grade, and it was all over the map. Of the ten teachers our kids had, I would say they only had three really good ones at SPSL. But what really sent us to public school was the poor math program. By the end of fourth grade we knew it was lacking. Our kids' had repeated learning their "times tables" for the third time, and their standardized test scores, while extremely high in other areas, were poor in math. Since taking them out of SPSL we've never looked back. Once in public school, our kids immediately realized how clique-y SPSL had been. They'd had difficulty making friends there, and after literally the first day in public school they had made friends. We also realized what a difference a younger, more engaged principle can have on the culture of a school.

My son went to St Pius X/St Leo from Pre-K to 1st grade. The teachers that he had were wonderful. The reason we decided not to come back to SPSL is the way the Principle runs the school. There was an incident where we had a meeting with her to discuss some parental concerns and she kept throwing her hands in the air, rolling her eyes and telling us she "couldn't believe we were sitting there discussing all this!" Very unprofessional in my opinion. I did NOT want my child going to a school that's run like that. I've been told by several people who know the principle's reputation that she only brown noses to those families who pay a lot of money to the school. You don't really matter to her if you don't. And due to it being a private school, they are constantly asking for money/help. I give the teachers a 5 star rating and the Principle a 1 star rating.
