Before moving to this area my children went to a private school. I was concerned about the increasing teacher to student ratio that comes with the public school and overall education level. What I found was that my kids fell in love with Summit Elementary School right away. They love their teachers, and their principle, and the feeling of community. I am happy with our school and the education my children receive there.

I have had 3 children attend this school and I am thoroughly impressed. I had 2 children that have required special education and one that excelled in school. In both circumstances, my husband and I felt supported. I have found prompt responses to questions or concerns that we have had. Almost every teacher our children have had as been wonderful.

I have generally been impressed with the level of communication from the teachers. They are very good at getting back to me when I email them or stop to chat before or after school. They just started using Seesaw, which has been a great way for the teachers to share some of what has been happening in the classroom. However, aside from Husky Power, (a one-hour time for individualized instruction) there is not a whole lot available for gifted children, and certainly not for 2e children. If you're willing and able to be present and involved, most of the staff members are pretty willing to work through things with the parents. The teachers and the principal are great about returning emails. My kids' teachers are great.

It's very hard to get ahold of the teachers and the principal. I'm just very unhappy with how I've been treated and how my concerns were dealt with.

School is overcrowded. Teachers did not communicate, even via email. Administration bogged down by red tape. Good enough for basic education, but no enrichment or gifted programs. Many parent cliques - not welcoming if you move to area and didn't start with the preschool level.

We are extremely impressed with the communication level we've received so far this year. We are also impressed with our daughter's 2nd grade teacher and the amount of family interaction that supports the PTO at Summit. We are extremely pleased to be a part of this school and the Oconomowoc School District. We came from a school district that didn't have the same level of standard in communications. Although the 4K - 1st grade teachers in our old district were great too.

Summit is such an awesome school! My three kids have had such a wonderful education there. Parent involvement is high in fun PTO functions and volunteering. The teachers really care about the kids and are so receptive to working with the parents. My son with a disability has had so much attention and care at Summit. Such a friendly school environment and wonderful facility, if you don't mind a larger school. I'm so happy that we moved here!
