North Terrace is a very warm, welcoming and family oriented school. The teachers and staff do all they can to make sure children feel safe and parents know they have nothing to worry about when leaving them for the day. North Terrace also has a very unique cultural environment. We not only have so many different military children from all over the world, but we also get to teach amazing civilian children. It's wonderful for all the children to learn so many things from each other about all the many differences and likeness' they have.

I have taught at other schools in Oceanside and this will be my second year at North Terrace. I have found the staff to be very experienced building a community in which the students feel safe, loved, and nurtured. The students at North Terrace experience not only a strong education, but a school experience in which they enjoy coming to school and feel a strong sense of community. The staff works hard to nurture each student as a whole child, not only supporting their academics, but also their emotional strengths and weaknesses. They are here to help make each child be the best version of themselves. The diversity at North Terrace, with the unique situation of having military familles as well as the civilian families, makes for a rich educational experience for everyone.

My son attended middle school at North Terrace. This school is pretty incredible. Setting foot on this campus you can feel the love the staff have for their students and families. The kiddos talk about the school with ownership and pride in their words. There is a lot of respect among staff members and the principal. The principal, Mr Carrasco, is super visible and very easy to engage with. He welcomes feedback and really listens to families. He knows every kids by name…..who does that?!?!No school is perfect but North Terrace comes pretty close. Finally, in terms of technology and academics, they are spot on! Forward thinking, thought leadership practicing, and community minded in everything they do. Highly recommend North Terrace!

I am very disappointed with the kinder program. Everything is so rushed and the children really don’t have an opportunity to property learn. The teachers don’t spend proper time one on one with the children and it impacts the ability for teachers to see how a child is developmentally, IMO. It’s disappointing to see a classroom have a wall free of child work all year long and a classroom filled with mouse droppings all over and is dirty and shows no sense of pride in teaching or that they care. The teachers don’t stay a minute past the bell and the parents aren’t allowed in the classroom. There is such an awkward feeling always because the teachers are so unwelcoming. The communication is so terrible. We get no pictures or anything of our children and the emails, when we actually get them, are minimal and are not from our own teacher. 4 teachers all group their classes emails together so we get this impersonal short thing. I am so surprised this school is rated an 8. I would be shocked if it was rated a 4 because this school has been pretty awful.

From day one coming to this school the lack of organization and preparation for things was lacking! The school could run 200 percent better and more efficient if for example the back to school night had the teachers and staff there! we came into the school with so many high hopes and heard so many good things about north terrace and I am yet it was a total opposite of all the positive of what I heard!

I LOVED thiss school for our Kiddos. They went there for the last 4 and a half years. Their Principal is very friendly and takes his job seriously. The staff become an amazing support for our family! Two of ours were in their Speech program and made a lot of progress with them! We're military and is our time to move, the hardest part of this one was leaving our school!

I love everything about this school. The teachers work well with the students and the chaperones at extremely attentive and take their jobs seriously. The principal has to be the friendliest principal I've ever met! He is extremely welcoming and is always there to greet parents and students before and after school. Parents are allowed to walk their kids to class, something that is prohibited in other schools. There is always a chaperone guarding the gates upon existing the school which makes me feel like my child is safe. The school is safe and the staff is wonderful!

I love this school. My daughter had to transfer in the middle of the school year and I was so worried about the transition. They accommodated us in every way possible. I LOVE her teacher. He is great with the kids and is very caring. My daughter was going to a school in Orange County and hated going to school and seemed unhappy, I volunteered in the classroom every week and everything seemed super rushed there and no time for fun. She is happy at North Terrace and I couldn't be more happier with our decision to switch to this school.

I was worried when I had read the prior reviews about this school but can honestly say this is a GREAT school!! I have two kids ( 5th and 6th grade) that are just finishing there second year here. My childs' 5th grade teacher is amazing, and always makes sure the students strive to do their very best. I was also pleased that the school added the higher grades so my older one could continue at North Terrace through middle school.

Such an unfortunate experience. I pulled my daughter out and transferred her because they are so disorganized and have class sizes of 40 students! The teachers refused to communicate with me, despite me going there every day and providing phone and email contact. It would be weeks before I got a response to even simple questions and only if I contacted the administration. My child was treated horribly by her teacher; yelled at, publicly shamed, and embarrassed for a medical problem and nobody cared to even respond to my concerns.

I have three children two of them attend this school. So far I have been very pleased with the teachers. I have one in kinder & the other in third grade. The teachers are loving, caring and have their classes under control. My complaints about this school is the amount of students in the classes. Teachers need assistants and more parents to get involved (for the ones that can). So far my children are excelling and that's due to their home & school atmosphere.
