This is my second year going here, and I am not sure that I would send my kids here, if I ever have any. Constant bullying to kids who are the most vulnerable, which I do find disgusting. But the root of the problem does not lie in the hands of the students, but instead in the hands of those teaching those students. Now, I am not saying that every teacher there is to blame, in fact many of them are amazing. What I am saying is that educators that don’t give 100% and more aren’t doing their job. Anyone that wants to work at a school or does work at a school should know this. I think the fault lies in the hands of the principal, Ms. Hicks. The principal is so-not-devoted to this school that it is sickening. Should she be fired? That’s for her and higher authorities to decide, but that does not stop me from saying yes, she most definitely should be fired. The first day I came here I was so scared of the principal. But I STILL AM. I want to let anyone who reads this know that this school is not good for your kids and not good for teachers that work here. So many teachers have left because of the principal. Which is so sad because I remember some of the greatest teachers I have ever been taught by being here. But they don’t work here anymore. Many current teachers don’t like Ms. Hicks either. So sad that a city so nice could have such a depressing school inside of it. Choose somewhere else, parents and guardians. This way your kids won’t come home saying, “I hate school” or anything else.

There's a significant disconnect between students and teachers. The students don't have much respect for any authority figure (except for a few) and my last year at this school left me with lasting scars. The principal decided to put a new system (it was similar to the hogwarts houses) in action that she deemed was a good idea, but almost every student hated. It isolated me from all of my friends while I was struggling with mental health issues and break up problems. It led to be the worst year of my life. Specific students were isolated from the majority group and teachers did relatively nothing. The teachers aren't properly equipped to handle students with at home issues and there's only one counselor to deal with every single student's problems. The only teacher I aimed to please was my 8th grade history teacher, and even then I wasn't very bothered. The students have almost no motivation to complete assignments and the teachers do not understand the problems that the kids at this school faced. The school nurse laughed at me when I told her I was going home when I wasn't feeling good, then she proceeded to tell me to "feel better, sweetie" when I left the school. There are constant fights at this school.

As the city segways into a new school it is my hope that the lack of self pride be notably enhanced and that no children be left behind. The value of education in Oberlin schools has decreased but may be increased with collaboration of parents and students.

School has gotten a lot easier since I was diagnosed with ADHD. But I wish that the teachers were more coordinated with when they assign homework/projects.

Focus is on either the children of local college professors/administration or the very poorest/struggling children. Children between these two categories are lost and ignored. Amount of fighting and criminal activity that requires an office for the PD on-site is concerning.
