We have loved Nickerson Elementary! The principal, teachers, staff and bus drivers are great! Everyone is very caring, and takes their responsibilities to educate the children seriously - while at the same time keeping the mood upbeat and happy. When I've had concerns about how my child is doing, they've been great communicators and have gone the extra mile to make sure everything is going well. My child and I both love the school.

Nickerson Elementary is located in the small town Nickerson, Ks. The principle, teachers and staff are amazingly dedicated to their students. My 3 children have attended this school for the past 3 years and they love it just as much as we do!

When we moved here from a bigger dist. I was not worried about this school because of the rating on here. I was wrong. There is def. a small town mentality and if you are an outsider you are not included in activities or felt welcome at the school. The principal seemed nice, but was not persistant or helpful when my son, who is a gifted student, got bored with the easy curriculum. Neither was his teacher. My daughter did fine because she was an average student and coming from a harder school she found the studies easy. The only positive thing I would say about the school was the preschool. The teachers were caring and welcoming and my five year old, who had never been to day care or school and had a hard time at first. They handled him well and he improved greatly. Having said that I can think of many other things that bothered me when I visited there. The other children were rude and disrespectful, the cafeteria food was horrid, and the librarian didn't encourage the children to excel either. There was no security (camera's, sign-ins, ID badges) and even the kids who lived a few blocks away rode the bus which seemed like a waste of money. If you can, avoid this school. We moved.
