  My family's gotten covid from these stupid public schools over 3 times now disgusting

  Do yourself, and your child, a favor and either live somewhere else or try to get your child out of this school system through a choice program. Although the school 'looks good on paper' with a variety of courses to choose from, that's where it stops. That is particularly true if your child needs further support and/or has emotional problems. According to the school, mental health issues affecting the school work and grades doesn't make you child eligible for Special Ed if your child happens to be intelligent. So, your child will be in limbo if that's the case and they will work on providing accommodations that do not always help, instead of providing the type of education the child needs, i.e., you will end up getting grades to pass but forget about the actual LEARNING.

  Newton High School while alright at best, there has been many micro-aggressions, slurs, and things that I would not like to share. Overall the experience at this school was accommodating to me having a IEP, there was never a moment I felt safe to change in the bathrooms other than the nurse's. There have been no education in teaching students about basic respect, and oblivious ignorance at certain topics. There was of course the "nicknames" and the treatment towards hispanics. There is of course the little ways they treat hispanics who don't know much english, even hispanics who know a lot of english but still have an accent from time to time. The Child support team was great for me, they're pretty good when it come to their way of speaking and trying to understand, along with encouraging creativity. Even though there are little support things to support the LGBTQ+ community, I have been told a lot of things despite the school being supportive.

  Newton high school is by far one of the best in Sussex county. The young adults graduating from there are more than prepared for college and the real world. Newton had gotten a bad rep because of its location. People fail to realize it is a regional school with many different students attending, from many different walks of life which is a rarity in Sussex county. What some narrow minds see as a negative, I see as a positive. Learning is not linear. The most educated people know diversity in cultures and socio economics. Learning starts with an open mind. Which most in Sussex county undoubtedly lack.

  My son attends this school. While the school,like most schools, has some very good teachers, some are less than stellar. My biggest complaint is the teachers refusal to hold their students to a higher level. The expectations are set low and as a result the students are actually encouraged to flounder.

  I think this school is decent, but could be more challenging. You have got to be on top of your kids, as there are a few that run with a fast crowd, if you know what I mean. It is all of the things a parent worries about.
