Principle is a joke, really and truly. Nothing ever gets resolved and the teachers are allowed to sit in class eating and playing on their phones, instead of teaching, while the kids do busy work. When you have an issue, you are told to schedule a meeting with principle, GOOD LUCK! Shes always to busy to take 5- 10 mins for a conference. Snarky, disrespectful, and passive aggressive comments is all you get over the phone and through emails. Someone needs to wake up and realize that this school is doing a disservice to our children. I would highly recommend the principle and some others removed from this school before they are allowed to hold back the education of our kids.

Dodson elementary is the worst school in this area! I'll lost some cons for you...1.) academic Saturday times Saturdays from 7-9If your child misses 2 homeworks, prepare to go to academic Saturday. If your child misses academic Saturday, your child will go to in school suspension. 2.) if your child wears unapproved school colored socks, your child will have their conduct grade deducted... yes, you read right, their conduct will be deducted over the color of their socks. Teachers get to wear whatever they like. Principal will wear short shorts! Staff dresses frumpy! 3.) if your child is being bullied by another child, don't expect much to get done. Faculty are the biggest bullies there! 4.) if another child damages your child's property, don't expect it to be replaced much less an apology! 5.) your child isn't allowed a cell phone at school, but the faculty have theirs, usually in their hand. The faculty will give your child busy work then, go sit at their desk and eat junk food while playing with their cell phone. 6.) make sure you check ALL of your child's homework and exams! The teachers make other children or your child check and grade their own work. (Teachers will tell the students they do not have time to do their job and grade the work your child has done because they have their own lives on weekends, and when they get off work). 7.) this school does not accommodate special needs or children with disabilities! There are only 2 teachers for each grade. Your child will be in the same class. (The class has children who have disabilities in the same class with students that do not have disabilities, and gifted children). 8.) if your child rides a bus, the bus has cameras, but the cameras are never running. Meaning if your child is bullied, or something is stolen, you'll never know... at least that's what you'll get told. 9.) if your child is a car-rider, make sure it's not raining... teachers do not pay attention, and your child may get soaked waiting for you. 10.) if your child ends up going to this school and you have any trouble, the school board in Iberia parish is practically useless as well! The school charges for EVERYTHING! If a child wants to wear jeans on Friday, it costs! There are close to NO field trips and the field trips they do offer may have your child walking to the destination and back! Don't enroll your child here! Just run!

Needs much improvement. Too much focus placed on dress code and not enough on encouraging the students

Under the new principal I find the school not safe for kids. Have had several incidents occur where proper action was not taken

My name is Zachary i now go to Iberia Middle. My elementary school, Dodson, was A 5 STAR school to me. But since theres been 2 principles that has retired i really dont think there on the right path. The only thing i liked that nobody else liked on my last year over there was band. Mr. Ledger was a most strict band teacher but taught well. My main homeroom class was great! I loved my teachers whos name i will not say. But i loved Dodson. It is a very well recomended school to me.

My son goes to this school and we have had nothing but problems with the teachers and staff. If you are in the area I would go with N. Lewis school over this school. We will be attending N. Lewis next year!
