We love Johnson school, it's been a great experience for both of our kids. The teachers and staff are kind and respectful, and are easy to communicate with over phone/email/in-person. Principal Andrews really cares about the kids, we often see him playing legos with kids or working in the garden with them. And shoutout to Mr. B, the best music teacher! He puts so much effort and passion into the school concerts, you can tell that he cares a lot.Our kids are happy to go to school everyday and they want to stay at the playground when we pick them up, they love it there.

We were the new family in town last year and felt immediately at home in the Johnson school community. Our previous school district was very large and the younger kids especially felt lost in the shuffle. At the Johnson school, all of the staff are experts on each child's strengths and weaknesses. This is such a special community and the kids really feel part of it and take ownership of caring for the school. After a recent movie night, older kids were sweeping up popcorn while younger kids held the dust pans. On sunny days, kids help spread mulch in the gardens and hang string to mark the borders of the forest playground. A very welcome change from the competitive environment of our former school!

We have had a great experience attending the Johnson school in nahant we came in as kindergarteners and second graders and the kids were welcome with open arms and treated like they have been attending johnson school since day one. Everyone is caring and attentive. The school does a lot of extra activities like planting trees flowers and gardens around the school with the students and volunteers. The school is as colorful as it can be. Thanks johnson school.

The Johnson School strives to be a place where students are excited to come to school, where they feel welcome, and where they want to take academic risks. Teachers work to provide engaging lessons that include real-world applications, manipulatives, and student participation. Technology is utilized to create learning opportunities unique to each student, and to provide feedback to teachers on progress in learning. In addition to strong programs in literacy, mathematics, social studies and science, we have art weekly art classes taught by a certified teacher who is also a professional and well-exhibited artist, music and instrumental classes by an enthusiastic teacher who performs on weekends, and physical education classes run by a trainer and track coach. Our school includes a community garden on the school grounds, and each class receives a plot in Kindergarten that they maintain through sixth grade. In addition, the school grounds includes a large "forest playground," 16 unique spaces dedicated to a variety of native plants that are used to study life cycles and ecology, a restored 10' high metal slide, swings, and soccer goals for recess. Parents and the greater community are encouraged to participate in school life in order to help us create a vibrant, inclusive culture

This school is not well run. Leadership needs to change ASAP. The principal communicates well and a lot, however, communication and results are very different and the results are ineffective and in some cases hostile to parents. Some of the teachers/counsellors/staff seem very young and in my opinion have not exercised good judgement around basic child discipline and problem child behavior, usually enabling that behavior. It's a small town but this school is not a partner to working parents, and, the lack of experienced staff causes more issues that we as parents have to compensate for at home. The morning drop-off organization is dangerous. Parents park on the other side of a busy drop-off lane and must navigate people driving and dropping off kids simultaneously in that drop-off lane (it's the Frogger game). Children run back and forth while driving parents are not focused because kids need to get out of cars. It's a recipe for someone getting hit by a car. The M-F summer programs shut down last summer, leaving no local options. Now the school is shutting down the afterschool program that parents relied on leaving us scrambling for care options to cover working hours after school 2:15-5 pm.

You can’t have a safe school when the Principal makes it unsafe. If your kids say something to you- listen. I know this is a small town and parents don’t want to ruffle feathers- but it’s takes a village to keep all children safe emotionally, physically and mentally. Kids cannot simply “be kids” here. Kevin Andrews has GOT TO GO.

The Bullying in this school is out of control. The principal does nothing, special education is a joke. EIP' s are never and it is almost laughable for them to waste students and parents time crating a plan that is NEVER MET.

So far EXCELLENT! I have two kids at JS and we enjoy having a small, caring environment that goes hand in hand with our small, caring community! Hope it stays like this and even improves everyday.
