Great school. My child has been there 3 years and we love the teachers and admin. Looking forward to another great year.

MDCA may seem like a nice Christian school, but it is rotten at the core. The teachers do a good enough job, but it's the administration that stinks. Bullying is not taken seriously enough, and justice is NOT found at this school. They will protect the kids of staff, ignoring their own handbook of punishments when it comes to assaults, bullying, bringing weapons, threatening others, etc. Nepotism is strong here, so if you go here then just make sure your kids don't end up the victim of staff kids - the school will not care anything about you. They seem to do all they can to avoid ANY bad publicity and prefer to sweep it all under the rug, of course - there is an image to maintain and that has priority. It really seems like it is all about the money, not your opinion of what you think is best for your kid. If you dare challenge the administration - you might as well start looking for a new school. Prepare for a bumpy ride at this school; and if you complain, then they'll let you know this school is not for you.

My husband and i choose this school for our daughter, she's in a VPK, i was so impressed the way how the teacher's showing the affections to the kids and teaches them well.

Both of our daughters go to this school, one is currently in 3rd grade and the other is in the VPK program. We came to this school because our oldest daughter requires special education accommodations and the public school system completely failed her. She is thriving at MDCA because the teachers are able to give a more focused attention to the students needs, and they work with her accommodations. The public school system wanted to just place her in a special needs unit.We love this school so much that I have actually turned down job offers in other regions because the thought of relocating our daughters to a new school weighs so heavily on that decision. Our family out of state constantly says “I wish our school did that” when we share all of the special events and programs that MDCA holds. We have had nothing but wonderful experiences with all of the teachers and staff, and even keep in touch with those who have moved away. The teachers communicate directly with the parents, and we never have to wonder what is happening at school, what events are upcoming, and what assignments are due.

Staff and teachers are exceptional. Great culture and atmosphere for any student. Resources, communication and an overall great experience in a nurturing environment.

The preschool and elementary campuses are very well run. You are fooled into thinking this is where your child is loved, accepted, and belongs, until they reach the secondary campus. Take one walk through the school or pick up line and you will see the extreme difference in the kindness of the elementary campus vs the secondary. This will tell you all you need to know. Once your child moves up, is when things fall apart. The administration of the secondary campus is very poorly ran. Children are now only graded on assessments. This is setting a lot of kids up for failure unfortunately. The principal of the secondary office is cold (this is her reputation) and is not a good representation of a "Christian" school. They lack proper and professional communication. I was even sent the wrong reports of another child that wasn't even mine. It is extremely "click-ish." When my child was younger, a high schooler bullied him and even put their hands on him. She was given a warning with no disciplinary actions. Since this incident, he has also been threatened. The administration basically told him it was deserved. They overlook things depending on "who you know." They discriminate those who have learning disabilities and medical issues. It's focus is on money and image. If you read through google reviews, a lot of them are teachers or staff who work there. The kids have been at such a disadvantage the past couple of years due to covid. A high number of teachers left which left them desperate and scrambling to fill those spots. Some of these teachers lack empathy and patience. At this very complicated, influential age, it is so important to have the right teachers who are prepared to work with preteens, their hormones, and their developing brains. Some of the teachers there are truly amazing, as well as all the coaches. Hands down best athletic program and director you will find. It was brought to my attention that my child's peers noticed a certain teacher singling him out and being mean to him. He is diagnosed with a learning disorder and it saddens me to hear this. He struggles with self worth because his brain works differently. This school needs to make some major changes and check their hearts. The damage that is being done to their faith and little spirits, could traumatize them. Make these kids want to run to Christ instead of away. Too many Christian schools make negative impacts on the hearts of those who need it the most. Do better MDCA.

Before I mention the negative, I will state some of the positives: SOME of the teachers are excellent. Some of them actually care about the students and work with them to ensure their success. There are NOT enough of those teachers at this school, however. Homework this year no longer counts, only test scores. If your child does the homework, they are able to retake the test, but that grade stands, even if it's worse. No consistency in curriculum or how the students should turn in their work. As far as the other categories: leadership, character, and bullying. This is the absolute worst school I have ever seen. The administrators allow bullying to happen and continue without punishing the offenders. They also allow teachers to bully students and incorrectly punish them without an investigation, even at the request of parents. If you bring up an issue, the administration will tell you what you want to hear, then do nothing in return. If you threaten someone's life here, it's ok, they will let you stay. If you vandalize the school, it's ok. They will let you stay and only give you one day of in-school suspension. If you have a parent that works there, or if you are involved in the Church of Christ, or your family has a ton of money, your kid can do anything they want at this school, they will stand by and do nothing. Nepotism and Favoritism at its finest. It's the good kids that make straight A's that get run over. It's the good kids that no one sticks up for. No, they don't teach character; they don't teach integrity, compassion, and respect. They are not Christ-like. What they do teach is that injustice is everywhere. They teach that as a child, you are not allowed to speak your opinion, have a voice, defend yourself. Don't waste your money here. Homeschool your kids instead.

I am a fairly new student, and this school has been pretty great so far! The teachers are helpful, the other students are nice, the food is good, and there is a welcoming and accepting environment.

Have had three children attend here since pre-k. Two have since graduated and one currently attending. Wonderful faith based school with a family atmosphere and involvement. Great moral environment where teachers and students all support and encourage each other, and want to see each child succeed. Many of the current students have been attending together for years, and thus have developed great lifelong relationships. The academic aspect of the school continues to improve each year, as they incorporate more and more opportunities for the students to achieve higher goals and advancement academically.

We've had a wonderful experience at MDCA and would highly recommend for anyone considering a faith-based education.

This is an excellent school, morals and integrity. Here they genuinely want your child to succeed, and give the tools necessary to do so.

Mediocre at best. Wonderful campus but not worth the money spent. I love the atmosphere and the extracurricular activities but it does not seem to be a good return on investment in an academic sense.

MDCA is not just a school it’s a family! The children and staff have strong relationships that prepare them for college both personally and academically. There is no better school in the county! Best decision our family made for our children was bringing them to MDCA!

Amazing school! My oldest have been attending since preschool and now a 1st grade. My youngest just started preschool. The love and attention that faculty gives to each individual child is amazing. You feel like family when you are on campus. The curriculum is outstanding. We are a Blue Ribbon School!

Our family has had an incredible three years at Mount Dora Christian Academy after moving to Florida from out of state. The faculty and staff have gone above and beyond to make our family a part of the school family. The school not only meets the needs of our children academically, but spiritually as well. We are thankful to have found such a GREAT school and would not have our children anywhere else.
