I've never left a review for a school, but this was worth leaving. The principal is incompetent and a poor example of leadership. I would never recommend sending your child here and if this is your only choice find a different choice. Your kid will greatly be effected by there lack of knowledge and competency.

Excellent! I love that they are a school of innovation. The teachers are wonderful and now with my 3rd child starting school they are beyond excited to start :)

The rating on the this website is not indicitive of how great of a school MESI IS. Montrose Elementary School of Innovation has been named an Reward School for the last 2 school years. This is an award given to the top 15% of schools in the state by the MN Department of Education. The current principle has worked very hard with his staff to improve the school. Every child is known by name and it is very caring and respectful environment. My oldest is there and my youngest will go there, even if we move outside of school boundaries. My oldest also participated in Early Special Childhood Education and Special Ed at the Elementary level. He has been so successful with his services and support that he is no longer in need of an IEP. If you are moving to Montrose, I strongly encourage you to consider, research, and visit this school!

The school district itself is less than satisfactory. The special ed services are sub par. My child has been there 2 years and will not return next year.

All three of my children go to this school and my oldest wasn't diagnosed with ADHD/Aspergers till was in 2nd almost 3rd grade and than the teachers treated my child like all the other normal kids, my child needed extra help they wouldn't help him with it. Than in 4th grade the teacher was super mean and told my child that it's "his responsibility and pretty much was told to deal with it."I wasn't happy brought it up to the prinicipal and he didn't seem to care either. If your child doesn't have a disability of any kind than your child will exceed, if your child does than your child will struggle. There are just certain teachers not all of them are as bad as the couple that I've dealt with. Buffalo school district is the same way if you don't exceed in sports or a perfect student you will struggle.
