I went to this school after hearing that it was one of the best in musd, however my experience showed otherwise. The school had a serious drug problem, the campus was poorly maintained, it had limited extracurricular activities and they were often underfunded and only available to 7th and 8th graders. There was also a huge issue with fights on campus.

Macy's staff genuinely cares for their students and one another. Being here is like being a part of a community that watches out for one another. Of course, it has its obstacles, as all public schools do. But as the highest-ranking middle school in the district, they are doing a lot with the few resources available to them.

My son attended this school and felt very safe and for the most part had responsible teachers-except for two in his 7th grade because they were not properly trained to work with high functioning population (Gifted). The principal does not address concerns because he feels limited by teachers union. The kids here are obedient and responsible for their actions, which really kept me from worrying about my son's safety.

My child is very happy at Macy. I'm confident my child will benefit from her teachers and progress academically. The staff seems a bit uptight. The secretary in the office (R. Romero) is absolutely terrible! She is rude and has no respect for people!!!

I loved this school. I'm a 10th grader now and can honestly say the best year of my life up to now was 7th grade here. Best teachers were Ligh, Ung, Casillas, Lee, Murillo, Buckhorn and Kawaharada. It's true that teachers give out a lot of HW and projects but it's not exaggerated, it really does help students become responsible (especially the portfolio interviews!!!) So many good memories made here... :) Admin and teachers are genuinely caring about their kids, almost every teacher I had had interesting discussions with us about their lives! responsibility, ethics, how to be a better person and inspiration. Would recommend Macy to any prospective parent interested in a good middle school for their child.

Macy Intermediate staff and admin where excellent last year. My son had Ms. Protti, Ms. Ligh and Mr. Lee...very dedicated teachers! The admin staff worked well together and were very visible on campus and were approachable. There is new admin staff this year so we'll see how 8th grade goes for my son. So far so GREAT with his teachers this year...Ms. Murillo and Ms. Casillas!

Macy intermediate school is an amazing school. It prepares you for high school, college, and important career choices. It allows you to think about problem solving and if there are multiple ways of figuring out the problem that the teachers give you with. They have amazing programs for children such as film crew, garden (GreenSpace) crew, yearbook, chew's crew, fishing/emergency preparedness club, Cross Country, etc. All of the teachers at Macy are passionate about what they do and they allow give children the skills they need for future references such as study skills, essay writing skills, problem solving skills, etc. Overall, this school is an amazing intermediate schoo.

Macy is an amazing school! These negative reviews are not true! I have attended this school since 7th grade and I'm in 8th now. Teachers DO typically give out mounds of homework, but you get used it. Macy just has high expectations for their students, which is why you usually get a lot of homework and projects. Especially, if you're a current student at Macy, you'll know what I mean, 8th Grade Portfolios! If you don't know anything about Macy, portfolios are basically: when you're an 8th grader, they make you gather work from all subjects from all of your years at Macy. Then you have to present them at the end of the year to a panel of judges (Macy teachers and staff). They give you a certificate if you pass and it might not sound like it, but it's a big deal. All 8th graders dread those couple of weeks, getting ready for those darn portfolios, and trying to muster the courage to present in front of some of your teachers and staff and what not dressed in fancy clothes. I am really not looking forward to it, but other than that, Macy has great staff, amazing teachers, especially Ms. Ligh, Mr. Lee, Ms. Casillas, Mr. Hayami, and well pretty much all of the teachers. Go Knights!

I attended Macy as a child and so have two of my older children. We took advantage everything this school had to offer(music, sports, fun activities, academics). Macy has done a great job preparing us for both high school and college. Great staff!

Well, to be completely honest, this school did not prepare me for my future. I attended this school for four years and I am graduating senior this year and had no idea (in middle school) what I should have been preparing for after high school. The preparation in this school did not set me up for high school let alone college. Even though I enjoyed the friends and some teachers I've still keep in contact with, once I left and went to the high school I am attending now, I had no idea students my age had been preparing for college since they where in middle school. I felt like this schools academic's and especially artistic elements, disable the students from really learning and grasping on the importance of learning it now. At that age, I didn't care about my grades or test scores. "This is middle school, I don't have to worry about anything right now," is what I told myself. I really didn't find any teachers that shed some light on my actions or on anything regarding the importance of learning something right now! I guess what I'm really trying to say is that this school has little to no preparation for the future. And so I'm sorry to say, but I would not recommend this school.

Macy Intermediate is an really great school. The teachers I had during my 3 years of education not only taught me the basic curriculum we were supposed to be taught, but also lessons about life. It was especially the teachings of my basics and PE teachers that would probably influence me the most. They were really great people who inspired me to do my best. The people at Macy in general, are wonderful people who care for others. Currently I'm finishing my 8th grade year, and I know that I would miss this school when I finally graduate . PS: MR HAYAMI ROCKS!!!
