This school is on the come-up! My children have attended a school in another nearby county that had an excellent reputation, however neither of my kids enjoyed their time there, in spite of being very involved in sports and extra curricular activities. This is our first year at MAHS and I could not be more impressed with the teachers, administrators, coaches, and students. It is truly a welcoming atmosphere. I proudly wear purple and black

Fantastic school. I’ve lived all over the country and in places that supposedly have the best schools in the country but the schools here are better. They do more than teach to a standardized test and actually help instill good behavior

Both of my kids went to school here. We are from Maryland and yes the schools are tons better. I had great reserves about this school when I first moved here. However, I found if you do what you are supposed to do and work hard you will succeed. They aren’t going to hold your hand. I also found the problem starts at home. Too many parents too busy to dive into their kids education and guide them. The JrROTC was one of the best and maybe all students should be required to take it. There tends to be a lack of respect and lack of self accomplishment. Teachers can only do so much. Both of my children are now Active duty in the military and also enrolled in college courses. I wouldn’t hesitate to send my kids here as kind as you set the boundaries as a parent and actually care about their education

My experience at this school was amazing. The teachers are always willing to help students who needed it and those who asked for it. The AP program is the best in the county, and very highly ranked in the state. Sports are amazing and help lower income kids be apart of something. The sports also builds the children’s character, inspiring many to further their education. There is a place for everyone in Monroe. A very diverse school, everyone is friends. Awesome principle who cares about the students. Great English, Science, and Social Studies departments but Lacking in Math. Although Mrs. Lynch was an outstanding math teacher! The councilors in the 17-18 school year we’re the best by far! Many of the people in my senior class would be called up front, just to make sure they were doing okay and for encouragement. Teachers were quick to speak up for the students. The Assistant Principal was quick to help me personally on scholarship application. It’s hard to see from the outside looking in how great the atmosphere is. Alot of kids got into UGA & Georgia Tech compared to the rest of the county. Mr. Bowling and Ms. Farmer are also amazing! The class of 2018 loved Monroe, no place I would have rather been for 4 years!

Sinking ship.. 262nd in the state in 2011 with 1241 students, got a new principle and went up to 241st in state (with 135 less students) but honeymoon ran out and by 2015 302nd!!!! in the state with only 1104 students (maybe the smart ones left). Agree with last comment on teachers but probably that way everywhere. I should of bought a house in the Walnut Grove or Loganville school districts as one daughter enters next year and 3 more behind her.

It's not a welcoming school. I don't expect the "lovey-dovey" atmosphere you get at an elementary school but a little courtesy goes a long way--re: rude receptionist. And the registrar's office? A total waste of money. Rude, incompetent and just all around useless. The teachers, for the most part, are really good. A few excellent, a few horrible but most fall in the solid "good" range.
